It's going to be hit and miss with FP. If there's enough average players in the queue, you won't always be up against comps but that requires many people to play. Absent that, the few groups that play the mode regularly are going to continue to play. As much as it sucks, it's not their responsibility to play less seriously than normal. You call it seal clubbing and farming, but really they're just playing the mode like normal. I don't know what you expect them to do? They don't get to pick their opponents. The matchmaker doesn't take tier into account there.

I definitely understand being frustrated getting stomped by premade groups! that's a very annoying experience, especially repeatedly. But, there's a ton of different places where you can go to find a similar group to also play with! as many others have said, the MM is first come first served, and everyone else is also there just to get the stuff!

a thing I had to put a lot of effort into doing is remembering that this is at the end of the day, just a viddygame that people play to have fun. I would suggest you just go into stuff with a more lax attitude, focus on improving where you can and getting the fun out of the experience that's there, if its there for you? and if it's not, like. step away for a bit until you can come back and have fun again!!

Its very old, but i believe its still some what legit.. Obviously a unit helps.. Me personally i have zero interest in faction play but others are different.. You at least get an idea on that video.

Thanks for event, but:
1)Long queue... very long
2)FP need some unique rewards (not event ones) - like faction cammo for 10th rank etc, same goes to LP - for now it's just useless to farm FP coz it gives same rewards as QP but QP is muchfaster to get in match...

watch the queue. if you pay attention to the player count as you queue you can spot the premade groups as they enter and if you wish to avoid them you may do so.

Faction is best experienced as part of a group.
i recommend finding a group, it often takes a moment longer to get a game solo and it often ends in discomfort.

I've been here since November 2011 and have nearly 14,000 matches under my belt, maybe a quarter of which are Faction. I fought for the Free Worlds league in the massive Battles of Wazan in December 2014 and January 2015, so I know the game mode well and what I'm talking about.

My point is that if MWO's intent is to introduce the newest generation of players to Faction Play and revive interest in it, then the seal-clubbing and farming that's going on will completely undermine that effort since the new players will never try it again. It's not 2015-2016 when the mode was still viable with multiple pre-made groups filling the queues (before Long Tom killed it).

Period.

If you don't add proper matchmaking to FP - including groups only matching with same size groups -, just don't. With the amount of seal clubbing teams around there, the FP players don't actually want new players to enter the mode.

Yes. This is just intended, the few FP players that are left don't want anyone else to enjoy that mode apparently.

Faction never appeals to me and I wouldn't mind the event so much if it didn't just kill quick play. Player base just won't support both it feels like.

I generally don't play FP, but surprisingly, I completed all the challenges in six solo drops, so it wasn't exactly horrible.

In two of the drops the other side had an 8, then a six-person pre-made and it was short and brutal. I did see some clever strats such as using SRM bombing Arctic Wolves in the first wave to beat the crap out of our assault mechs, then follow-up with a wave of assault/heavies to clean up. The rest of the matches were mostly populated by pugs. Three of the six matches timed out with several surviving mechs on each side.

I had fairly long waits between matches and the whole thing took about three hours to complete.

Exactly what I tried to say and they don't care about new players or casual players in faction play they only care about their Faction play meta buddies and how they can seal club everyone and drive away more players from FP or they would have made the events stock mechs only or segregated it by brackets somehow for new players.

Rather than hoping I get on the team with the group that goes farming in FP, I should get some friends so I can group drop and guarantee I'm on the farming side. Unfortunately I'm really unlikeable, so I will just continue to avoid FP.

Let me sum up faction play...

"Faction Play: Less fun than repeatedly slamming your **** in a car door!"

The only thing that's going to change this is making it so that groups only face other groups, and solos face solos, full stop.

P.S. I'm far more interested in finding out what this month's "grind for it" mech is.

If I had to guess, they're collecting data for adding drop decks into QP in the future.
