Strange Hit Detection

Throughout the years in MWO, there always seem to be periods with wonky hit detection for some reason. Sometimes even taking multiple hits from the same projectile which seems to be happening now.
Is anyone else noticing this lately?

No, that's not it in this case. I've been at this for a decade. I know my mech geometry.

Not lately, but over the years I have noticed that some nights its just crazy for a round or three. Seems to go in spurts and I have never read an explanation as to what might be occurring or why. It's not specific to mech or weapon class (I've seen point blank volleys of MPLs register zero damage as often as MRMs for example). Some times it benefits me, other times, not so much. Like many aspects of this game, it's just the way it is.

With me its periodical. There will be periods where it happens regularly and frequently, then nothing for literally years, then it pops up regularly again. I think it has something to do with the MWO servers themselves or my connection to the servers even though everything seems fine in terms of ping, no packet loss etc.
