Go look up on Jarls list "crazytimes IIC".
Turns out the other 11 people aren't that important, and I'm not even that good. The skill gap between the really good players and me is more than the gap between me and say... People that think the only reason they aren't doing well is absolutely everyone else's fault.

If you stop playing like a potato, you will be on the losing end of very few stomps regardless of the other 23 players.
you both aren't wrong.
however, the other guy isn't, either.
we have to differentiate between "performing well, personally" and "having a match worth fighting (aka: good and close, to
have fun).
yes, many of us know how to get a "green arrow up" regardless of the other 11 guys on our side, even regardless of the 23 others at all.
but:
just because 'we' perform regardless doesn't mean it's a good match, and here the matchmaker fails often; I played the beach event on this account, and helped my brother a bit on his, too.
I had quite a few fun matches. however, a VERY large amount of matches were NOT enjoyable - at all. teams cowering in fear, ending with a 12:1-3 aren't fun - no matter the side you're on (at least for me). and we have them in spades.
there's plenty of other situations that lead to "no fun", and the matchmaker
(or rather the flawed data it decides upon)
is to blame for many of these matches.
TLDR:
you personally can perform no matter what the others do, yes.
however that does NOT mean you had a fun match; and no-fun leads to dropping this game quickly again,
just to have some more enjoyable time somewhere else.
