On another note, when will you guys do a sale for bolt-ons? Those are never on sale and I for one would buy several if they were at a discount, and I don't think I'm alone in this.

happy to see a faction-event.
sad to STILL have to wait an eternity and THEN see faction-vets playing the boring bluelaser-rangetroll game.
you guys know better and it's no fun for you, either. why not have some actual fun and still win..?
there is little point in winning a match that's no fun for nobody.
very meh.

Yea the combination of frozen city (insane range) and the clans laser range just made it a total chit show for the matches I played. Still grind it out for the event, but nothing more, back to QP after it.
I've found the clanners all tend to sit back and take pokey shots until they've worn people down.... There really isn't much IS can do against it, at least i've never found anything that can fight back as well. The constant problem with FP usually was this to begin with, and PGI never realized how they should address it.

This is why I try and run medium to close range builds only, unless the mech has some opportunity for really, really good long range loadouts. Long live the brawl.

siege tends to be less favored by the skittle crowd than it is for the fp regulars. regulars seem to want siege all the time. i figure pgi knows this and is just trying to give the people what they want.
frankly im a little disappointed that it wasn't an option in this event, id probibly play beyond the event requirements if it was.

the cool thing about fp is you can bring mechs that match the map. this is possibly one of the better features of the mode. if you dont have decks ready to go, you can just favorite your alternates and change them in the minute or so before the match drops. dont bring a knife to a gun fight.

Weird, because, as a usually Clan player, we find it exactly the opposite. The IS ERLL spam from Stalkers and BattleMasters tend to core my CT before I can do much. My group ended up switching to IS for the evening because we got tired of being roll stomped by GN-X and other elite's. Once it was a more even match of skill, we had about a 60/40 win/loss ratio and actually enjoyed the matches, even the losses.

Call it something else:
Doing QP maps and modes isn't faction War
And there is no Clans versus Inner sphere,

I feel your pain, but, it can be fun, you just have to get lucky in the rotation not to have to drop in the same match as GN-X or the other usual suspects. My friends and I got in a few fun matches last night after switching to IS drops and adjusting our timing so we were less likely to drop in the same match as those elite tier folks.
I wish there was a player base large enough to segregate the comp teams from casuals like myself that work 50-80 hours a week, take care of their family, don't spend hours tweaking graphics settings and putting together meta builds, and just want to drop and have a fun time in Faction play.
I find myself having more fun with a close fought loss against similar skilled players than managing to get into a drop with the large groups of elite players (GN-X or FJRD or CSPS etc) and watching my team mates roll stomp the opposition 12-48. Being on the receiving end of that beat down is actively unpleasant and has driven me away from FP for months at a time. New players trying Faction Play for the first time get two or three scourgings like that and never want to try FP again. I think it is a large reason the player base for FP is so small other than on event nights.
I don't have any issue with players playing to their maximum potential. They are very good at piloting, shooting, and tactics. I just don't want to drop against or with them. Nor do I want to "git gud" and invest all the time and effort that would entail. I am 52 years old and work a full time 3rd shift job with lots of overtime and other mandated tasks outside of my normal work day. I want to play this game to have fun and relax. Not to be the 14 year old chubby kid wearing water wings with a peanut allergy thrown into a pool with Olympic level water polo players for a game of aquatic dodge ball. I hope PGI is able to find a reasonable solution to this issue.
