The game is in a much better place now than it was 4 years ago. A much larger variety of builds and playstyles are valid in quick play now.

PGI and the cauldron have done a pretty good job. Stop being so negative all the time. Enough is enough.

Some people just arent happy, unless they are unhappy about something.

It's an unfortunate thing about human nature, we cant all be winners, some have to be whiners.

the changes wouldn't be so bad if the player base wouldn't respond to every little tweak by cowering in terror of making even the slightest tactical decision during a match. its easy to pick on the cauldron or pgi. but when people move one grid square after spawn and sit there for 10 minutes, it kind of makes the game dull.

also crying no, bolting wallet shut maybe.

The inner sphere mechs are still lousy trash (I mean if you remove all the absolute garbage and take into account only playable chassis).

Short range builds are still completely useless in 2 out of 3 matches.

I wouldn't know what the game was like 4 years ago as I only started playing 2 years ago. I love all the new mechs that have been introduced and most of the maps, sorry I don't care for the hot maps that much. The only thing I have been negative about are the bugs and that is to get them addressed.

Ahh yes, keep spreading them lies. I love it! We need more ERLL spam, because I'm having a great time mutilating you snipers with my speedy SRM brawlers, and you cant even fight back!

What's the lie? Clan blue lasers are over performing right now with their inflated damage (hell+erml combo), ridiculous reach (erml and erll), or just a good all round jack of trade(clpl)… ye you can catch the one idiot sniper alone on a hill if you get the jump on him with a scale shot or something but that's a special case, but heavier brawlers is just easy pickings for the dominant mid range meta, unless you like sitting around for long time or hoping your team is aggressive enough for you to do something.

Nah, IS are plenty good, and will be downright OP in some cases once Clans get hit by the DHS nerf thanks to HAGs overperforming. Any IS 'Mech with a shortage of energy hardpoints can now do BL + ERML in-lieu of 2 LL. That's a decent buff, especially on 'Mechs with standard energy, laser duration or heat quirks.

Which do you think is overperforming? Midrange? or Sniping? Because it seems like you aren't sure.

Playstyles usually used: Sniping, Laser vomit - oh the diversity!

And I disagree: 4 years ago the TTK was longer and your toso wasn't flying off by one alpha - especially not one shot half across the map.

Also, the risk vs reward factor is totally whack. 4 years ago you got high dps or alpha by sarcrificing range. Now you shoot even higher alphas at mid or long range. Now there is zero reason to go for risk and take a short range weapon plattform. You simply do not have advantages but only drawbacks

Positives:
Cauldron, whatever else can be said about them, are actively tweaking balance. I don't agree with some of what they have done, but they are active.

Onyx is gorgeous, it's a medium, specifically a Cent, it's a neat experiment. I think the shield should be either dab-able to bring it up front or it should have a "firing mode" as a "weapon" that brings it up front temporarily.

Scaleshot is getting reined in. HAGs are getting reined in. The ability of Clan DHS boating to enable ridiculous alpha-monsters is being reined in. Coolshots are being reined in (I despise consumables in general). Stalker BLC bullcrap is getting reined in.

Plain language explanation and rationale is being given for heat changes.

I've already expounded upon what I am unhappy with. Most of it is non-negotiable as points of contention. I can be positive, positivity doesn't address issues and occasionally encourages laurel resting.

Midrange I'm pretty sure I was clear with what I believe what is over performing in the game especially with problem weapon being walked around that is clan large lasers they need to smacked down a couple of pegs, hags was just only exacerbate the problem with clan laser vomit currently.

You think the game was more healthy in mid 2019 when it was at or near its lowest concurrent player count and straight up on life support?

I know a significant number of forumers are totally attached to Lowreybalance*; that being a complete lack of high-alpha long range weapons, and total dominance of short to mid range high dps weapons. I just wasn't expecting you to admit it.

Is midrange and (to a lesser extent) long range overrepresented right now? Yeah. Rolling back to lowrey balance and simply *removing snipers from the game* is not a solution.

Yeah, because we all want to remove sniping /facepalm. Seriously, it seems you can only think in black/white

Something has happened.. I don't even know what it is to be sure, but the population is dropping and the game isn't as fun in recent months. It's like every game I'm in, my team is half assaults, and they all hide behind walls and each other until they die. Meanwhile everywhere I go in a light, I have 8 guys shooting at me.

I don't know if it's the new weapons, the Legends, Stone Rhino's or what.. but the game is becoming more frustrating than fun.
Maybe I just need to take a break as well.

You sound like that dude who was trying to defend britney spears with eyeshadow everywhere. We are negative because the game is in an absolute TRASH state. The same developer who released that travesty of a map that I've fallen through the ground on? He also doubled the load times for the hangar bay. I just had another developer tell me that the STALKER is one of the best assault mechs in the game, further cementing just how little the devs know about their own game. They finally realized how BROKEN HAG's where after how many weeks? I routinely get disconnected while connecting to matches at the exact same point as my mech is dropped out of the drop ship. PGI happily releases more legendary mechs that are OP, only to nerf them in the next patch, further incentivizing buying mechs.

I'm tired of this community defending their absolutely reprehensible behaviour. Enough is enough.

This is purely your subjective opinion. If this was true, data (statistics) would show mwo population in decline, but it doesnt. Steam charts and Jarls are perfect example of how stable the population has been for 3 or 4 years. Cauldron didn't decrease number of players, neither did HAGs.

This is perfect example of how the most vocal doomers of this ''community'' are also players who have the least knowledge about this game. Stalker is one of best and most versatile IS assaults in game. It has High mounted energy slots, it's good at sniping, its good at laser (vomit) boating. You can easily spread incoming damage through its heavily armor quirked CT. It can do ECM/Stealth, it can do LRM 80 + artemis, in some cases it also can boat srms. Binaries made it even deadlier mech. HIgh mounts make it very hard to hit, because you dont need to exposed yourself much before firing, and can very quickly hide behind cover.

What the f are you talking about? Ever since they were added into the game, every single patch they have recieved tweaks, and in most cases huge nerfs. I know i know, people like you probably see only 0.07 spread removal, and instantly go ''WTF?!?!111! why a buff?'' completely ignoring significant heat increase (nerf). It is pretty clear that Cauldron realizes they are problematic (ever since they added them into the game), and are constantly tweaking them. Weapons in mwo are not easy to balance, it took years to balance most of them. You need data first before you can continue tweaking the balance. Another example of you being absolutely clueless.

This is absolutely you problem. In past 2 years, i haven't been disconnected not even once. Only exception was, last patch couple of days ago, when EU servers had problems, which pgi fully admited and were nice enough to let people know.

Maybe learn from your bad experience next time, and wait couple of months before you brainlessly buy any legendary mech?

Thats quite the warped view of the past you've got. Snipers were there, and were effective but not overwhelmingly powerful. They could still supress people and whittle them down one by one, but they weren't quite as powerful as "peek and lose your torso/ leg" type situation we've had going on now. Blue lasers, erppcs, ac2s, ac5s/ UAC5s and gauss rifles were all fairly commonly used at long range.

Mid range was king because it had the biggest alphas, but short range and sustained damage builds could somewhat keep up because most mid range builds were reliant on high heat combos. Ultra autocannons and clan large pulses were the nastiest at mid range.
