Used to be people shifted away from LRMs, unless it was the weekend. I have noticed that more and more people are using them now. In 4 matches, my AMS mech shot down over 2400 missiles. A month ago it would have taken me over a month to shoot that many down.

I'm just curious as to what has changed?

Why do events generate all the "why is XXXXX happening all of a sudden"? There's only 2 on the front page which is rookie numbers.

Perhaps these two mysteries are linked. Perhaps it's Ancient Aliens. Will we ever know?

Also the ECM bubble has been dropped to 90m so more targets.

Partly this, I know that’s why I’m using them… testing their viability with the smaller ECM bubbles.

but every event with free stuff has people pile in, and one way to get decent match scores quickly is by spamming missiles. How effective that is… is a different discussion. Posted Image

I'm sure they'll get another few nerfs soon so don't worry about it. They still go slower than a semi turning around in a wally mart parking lot at only 180 ms or so.

I find them to be pretty horrible right now. Sure ECM has gotten a nerf recently, but I have never see so many mechs run with it ever before! It seems half of the mechs have it installed now.

And just like last time it'll probably change back again then 90 again then 120 again and so forth.

The Phoenix Protocol Event (which has just ended) asked for 500 missile damage... perhaps that's what you're seeing there...

That said, I've also noticed that there are Longbow+LRM, and any_mech+LRM galore Posted Image

Hopefully LRM/ATM would become more viable; hate to see BattleTech without missiles...

-55% ECM protection bubble size as per Dec 2023 patch has helped somewhat...
(Area = Pi x Radius x Radius), so 90m ECM bubble means -55% ECM protection bubble size!!

Perhaps Radar Deprivation also needs to be adjusted too...

people are using lrms because it's easy to get 100 damage with them and during the loot bag events you want something you can get easy damage/match score with.

1) Some players are using them to do complete those match score / damage requirements because it is the easiest way for them.
2) The Longbow Mechpack and the "Spitfire" Hero 'Mech are quite recent additions to the game.
3) Some players are testing if the Radar derp nerf and ECM nerf have helped LRM users. The answer is: Usually, not much.

I laugh whenever I see someone starting the game with posting "Please, hold locks for me" or with a similar phrase. Posted Image

LRMs are the go-to for many players in just about any score farming event.

it's almost unbelievable people still use LRM consider the amount of ECM mech exist.
they should drop the ECM crap to bare minimal it should be considered a special weapon

God knows why. Good direct fire is so much easier to use.

The LRM5 changes, the Longbow, and the ECM nerf are probably encouraging LRM use, but who knows what happens once the flavour of the month moves on.

Played few games with lurms with a group Yesterday, it was ok as long as everyone had narc/tag/uavs and we didn't get tryharding 99,9 percentile group on other side Posted Image at that point automatic lose.

shorter version, lurms still suck badly compared to other weapons.

You answered your own question mostly.

Weekend. It's almost Christmas. Schools letting kids out for the holidays. Working folks taking vacation.

I'm using CLRM/LRM/MRM/Csrm/SRM because I want to use them all missiles have been nerfed way too much, but their part of TT-BattleTech-MechWarrior and lore and I will play them as I see fit supporting my team and harassing the snipers and long rage builds as a support mech.

That is what this topic is really about snipers crying because missiles do a fantastic job of neutralizing their effectiveness and that's why the Cauldron has nerfed them so hard to placate their buddies. They would like this game to become (MechWarrior Sniper Wars) instead of MechWarrior Legends.
