So. Back from a hiatus because my derpy-*** buddy got MWO and I hadda come back and show him how to not die, and as is always tradition with MWO I find myself spending more time in MechDB than in the game client. Because work and such. I find myself with a question:

There is a "Wolfhoundclan" listed which is obviously Grinner-IIC, but while it has the 'L' tag of a Legendary, I cannot see it anywhere in the store. Was this a one-time thing that is no longer available? If so, sad 1453, would've loved a Clantech Wolfhound to muss with.

Secondary, related question: what the schnozzberries is the difference between a 'Legendary' 'Mech and a Hero 'Mech? Other than the one coming with a built-in plate of knickknacks, I mean. I cannot see any mechanical difference between Hero and legend save that legend Omnis are apprently not Omni?

I was looking for Clan Wolfhound myself recently, I was told it was some sort of loyalty reward or something like that and it will come to game later, or much later.

Ahh, Loyalty. Booty. Oh well. Maybe they'll give us the Pick-A-Reward thing again sometime and I'll get one more chance. Thanks, though.

In a few months time, the CBills versijon of WLF-C (Standard Variant with no CBills bonus boost) should be available...

Hey 1453R,

Welcome back.

An (L) designation on a mech means it is a loyalty reward, they gave the WLF-C to us last December.

A Legendary mech will have the designation (LGD).

They become available for MC after six months iirc, and for c-bills a few months later although they will not have the 30% c-bill bonus.

dumb unrelated question here: What does the (T) designation mean?

That one seems to be attached to the current set of Trial 'Mechs. FS9-A is a Firestarter-A. FS9-A(T) is specifically the Trial FS9-A. Or at least the trial 'Mech is labeled (T) and the (T) variants aren't for sale, so that's my educated guess. Especially since they went and gave the Trial 'Mechs actual paint jobs now, weirdly enough. No more Rookie Greens.

(T) mechs are free mechs especially useful for new/newer players, and everyone can use these as well!
It's especially useful for newer players with a very limited stable of mechs to play with.
They can have a "feel" for what mechs are like before buying.

Or if you play only Light mechs, and wonder what Heavy mech would be like, then (T) Trial mechs would be a free way to try it out!

Probably having unpurchaseable Trial mechs lets PGI adjust their builds as and when needed. Champions had the issue of being built for one set of quirks and the mech coming back to rotation a couple years later when the old quirks were completely replaced by something different and the resulting build came together like skittles and fish.
