On a side note I agree when it comes to conquest it usually turns into a shoot all the enemy instead of the intended capture and hold. In the games I have played that were Capture and Hold orientated I had massive fun even when our team lost. Hunt and kill games on conquest missions just piss me off though. There not fun, and having been on both sides of the win loss column I can say with confidence conquest hunt and kill is boring and frustrating.
That said, I love all the ideas I have read for games so far, so no reason to add to the confusion. I will upvote any ATLAS only events though that was F U N! I imagine that any event with a Mech restriction of one type of mech should be fun. (I did like the Urbie Derby for a bit also.)

Gamemode - Laser TAG
TAG only, you go around tagging enemies. Tagging someone sends them into an extremely sped up shutdown/startup sequence with 5 seconds of invuln after startup. 5-8 minute games and the goal is to get as many "shutdown" kills as possible.
All light mechs, this is to simulate the fun of running around a laser tag arena. One of my local arenas had a Timber Wolf painted on the wall and for some reason it's a core memory.

Agree with all the events BDS suggested though, although having some with no groups at all would be nice, maybe something silly like:

2. 8v8 groups 1-2, drop deck, 285 tons, HPG Manifold, Conquest (medium map for Conquest)

IKR, they should just make 8v8 drop-deck groups 1-2 it’s own permanent queue huh? That way they can make room for the silly stuff.

I'd love to see any EQ with Escort and Incursion, preferable on the old maps (like Forest Colony classic) to bring the nostalgia.
Actually any EQ on Forest Colony Classic and Forest Colony Classic Snow will be appreciated. 4x4, 8x8, 2x2 will feel great on this maps.

Min/max groups 1-2 for 8v8, and 1-3 for 10v10
No mech restrictions.
Tonnage
240-280, depending on the map. I’d say somewhere in the middle (260T) is perfect actually. You can run up to four heavies, or go with something like Assault, Heavy, Medium, Light.
Maps
Any drop-deck map except Alpine Peaks. Would be great to do map rotations every 4 or 6 hours instead of keeping the same map for the full 12.
Mode
Skirmish works pretty much any map.
Domination (QP timer) works OK on Vitric map and with lighter decks on smaller maps.
Conquest drop-deck would be the absolute best game mode for drop-decks if it could be switched to Faction Play timer.
Assault is by far the most annoying to play drop-decks with. Let’s say your team drops Assaults first, they start engaging in the middle. Meanwhile the enemy has a lance of cap spiders and caps out your base in seconds. No further drops were used, minimal exchange of fire occurs. Defeats the purpose of drop-deck and makes it a waste of time to queue up for it (This is a real Faction Play example btw).
I can’t speak for any other modes like escort or incursion, but I’m guessing that incursion will make for a better Assault-type game mode.
Match Time
Depends on the map, if it’s a small map maybe 20-25min. A bigger map, maybe like 30-35min.
Though I like Vanilla modes, the previous could be tweaked to allow for non-standard modifiers like infinite JumpJets, ammo etc.
But one needs to consider the change in gameplay dynamics when other modifiers or restrictions are in play.
