Yeah it's almost like 1990s tabletop turned based game and fluff lore don't trranslate well to 2024 first person real time shooter gameplay and things have to get changed so as to not be absolutely terrible.

Given I am the one who wrote the stats and lore for the original Red Reaper, I am totally fine with PGI making changes for the sake of their game. They are also nice enough to call it Red Reaper II and do not pretend it would be the original. Good move on their part

Are you actually the original designer? I did not know! Awesome.

It’s a shame we had to redo it, but the lack of melee in MWO hurt it too much. Gotta make up for it with more guns!

I think 5x Medium X-Pulse and a Couple Heavy PPC's would have been fine. I'll still have great fun with the Missiles, probably 4x MRM10's on the New variant though.


It would be amazing if you could manage to implement the MW5 Melee in MWO. I'm sure there have been talks, any specific reason it can't be done? (I've been away for too long if the reason has been discussed before)

Yep, Daniel Isberner. That would be me. Catalyst writer and the one who wrote XTRO Most Wanted and designed all units in it. Only the artwork isn't me, since my kids draw better than me.

The original wouldn't have fit mwo, cause 1, no melee in mwo. 2, only 6 energy to work with.

I wouldn’t say that’s the reason. The spaghetti code made the max height lower and it also made the launch angle shallower when that wasn’t the intent. Then intended stats were never properly tested due to this. Will need to adjust another way.

Just wanted to say thank you for reverting the LRM nerf. That must have required some courage to admit that you were wrong about it.

Just don't listen to everything that your "Cauldron" club has to say as they are very much biased towards their preferred way of playing.
