I really don't enjoy playing laser vomit and I know for a fact that ballistics are perfectly viable since the post battle report gleefully tells me how many times I got pounded in the face by rotary, uac 5, HAG and whatever new variations of autocannons/gauss rifles are out now.

This is more or less the build you want on a KDK-3 these days

abuse the high mounts and put the ERPPC in when you full expose

I've read that tier 3 is especially **** because of what you end up with in terms of matchmaking. I was hoping to get into tier 2 at some point to help mitigate this but I also don't want to blame the game for what could be mitigated through my own skill/decisions.

Unfortunately it's sad truth, that true Tier 3 players just don't have place in this game. They've got stuck in limbo between Tier 4 and Tier 3, cur they're too good for first one, while being too bad for last. Devs should fix matchmaker somehow to mitigate this problem. I just don't believe, that Tiers 1-3 combined have so few players in them, that Tier 1 matches should be padded by players from bottom of Tier 3. This is nonsense.

I guess, PSR is obsoleted. We need AI matchmaker. PSR is way too inert. It takes ages for players to reach proper rating. Matchmaker should be much more simple. It should be about some trial matches, where AI would measure player's skill. If player clubs seals for, let's say, 3 matches in a row - he is offered higher challenge immediately. Not after hundreds of matches.

From what I have heard, the number of Tier 1 and Tier 2 players is quite low (in comparison with the number of Tier 3 players).

And if you add that during certain times of day the number of active players (all Tiers combined) is pretty low ... Well, eventually the matchmaker must release some valves because otherwise nobody would play.

You do not need hundreds of matches to move up a Tier, especially if you are good player starting in Tier 5.

TTB went Tier5 to Tier1 in 2 streaming sessions using only Trial Mechs.
So seems like if you are really better than most, you progress quite fast.

I recently dropped from Tier 3 to Tier 4 during the Easter Long weekend where the EQ was running and quickplay was a hot mess, after being in Tier 3 for a very very long time (and dipping my toes, unpleasantly, into Tier 2).

Honestly, life is great in Tier 4.

Tier 4 matches have a WAY better feel, represent a much more homogenized drop population and I find people actually use comms more, plan ahead in the drop queue to protect Cadets, helpfully encourage others more, and there seem to be less players losing their tempers on others over the comms.

And when your team ends up losing a close one, due to your last one or two players simply being bad at the game, people tell them "good try", or "I couldn't have done any better" , instead of telling them how much they suck or that they screwed the team over being so bad.

Just sayin.

NASCAR has gotten absolutely insane recently.

It's currently a race to swap positions with the other team before anyone even fires a shot. I've seen this in well over half the matches recently.

Solution is to get active on Comms every match, and start calling out plans that don't involve NASCAR.

Random teammate: Let's go left

chorus of "affirmative"

2/3 go left, into low ground with no visual of rest of map

2/3 team gets slaughtered and complaints roll in on how the dummies who didn't follow them threw the game.

This gave me a laugh - not sure why "hide in a hole" is such an apparently common mindset for victory, but I do see it all the time!

You need to play black knights. get a 7L. Put a binary a large, and 4-5 er medium lasers. make it go 87-89 kph

Just laser vomit until youre not bad. very simple.

Tier 3 is the first time a player can regularly be in a match with Tier 1. As a Tier 4, one can be matched with Tier 2, but I think that happens infrequently. The population for Tier 1 and Tier 2 is pretty low. I think that Tier 1 and Tier 2 get pulled into each other's games a lot. If there is not enough available, the matchmaker will pull in Tier 3. This essentially creates a division between Tier 4/5 and Tier 1/2/3. I think the matchmaker tries as hard as possible to keep Tier 5 players in games with only Tier 4/5. All bets are off with groups, though.

When you get to Tier 2, you will experience more of the same. Probably worse as you will be in games that could be entirely Tier 1/Tier 2.

the other thing is that there's a huge difference between Tier 2 and Tier 1. There's also actually a huge difference between the bottom, middle, and top of Tier 1. When you move up to Tier 3 you go from facing semi-competent folks to people who really know their stuff and don't faff about.

I also like lower tier more, I notice very big change when I got to T3 and higher, people are angry, do not communicate, everyone is only playing on their own, only boring long range sitting in the back, everyone in same mechs, rotato salad on every map.
I think game was lot more fun on lower tier, even if you lose, people are just playing for fun. I would like to stop in tier 4 or 5 and not go up. Posted Image

I am pleased to hear that PSR is working as intended, giving you games that you enjoy.

In T1 I've never heard anyone talk trash about the last remaining players for losing the game. Ever.
