8V8 QUICK PLAY WEEKEND EVENT


Greetings MechWarriors,

We're sure many of you are excited for Comp Queue opening with the patch next week in preparation for the MWO Comp Championship Series 2024! To help you find your Comp groove, tomorrow we will be starting an 8v8 Quick Play Weekend Event at 12PM PST/7PM UTC which will run until the patch on August 20th.

Higher chance for the comp maps would be nice.

Maybe restrict the group size to 2 instead of 3.

I sort of support this brief experiment . I do think 8v8 is a superior format and has a lot of benefits in comparison to 12 v 12 .

However , Soup Queue aka groups and solos mixed as usual complicates things somewhat ( thanks to brainiacs that demanded this change 3 years ago).

If PGI is unwilling to do some sort of a hybrid system ( Hybrid system = group fighting groups , unless you cant form a match in under 3 minutes and then you fill the rest of the slots with solos) I do hope if this ends up badly received that they are not afraid to experiment again with 8v8 Group Queue with a 4 player group max limit . In order to avoid group queue tetris problem that was one of the reason why previous group queue died ( having 4 groups of 7 players that could never form a match despite having enough people to form a match ) and then make Solo queue separate from Group Queue again .

Because ... People may not realize this right away but this Quick Play event is getting extremely close to pure group queue when 6 out of 8 players are essentially grouped per side in a 8v8 match . Because it seems that groups are not limited to one per team so in theory you can have two groups of three or one group of two and one group of three on one side in a 8v8 match .Making it into essentially a group queue match in anything but name since 70%-80% of all players in that match are playing as a part of a group. There are a lot of inherent team balancing problems with this but we'll see I guess.

Many players suffer every day because they can't choose a mech after choosing a map. Now people take a close build and get to a long map. Take a long, get to a close map. The game would be more interesting if I could prepare myself for the battle on each map as much as possible. It's quite easy to do. If I was on asalt, then I can choose asalt, if it's important of the same weight.

No now is the time for real tactics

They should finally get some more variation in drop zones.

Especially in skirmish.

Looks like a good weekend to get non-MWO stuff done then, 8 vs 8 doesn't work for QP the way the game currently is.

i might give it a drop. i need to test my internet anyway.

cable company said my modem was out of date and needed to be upgraded, but if it aint broke dont fix it. then they started threatening to terminate my service and sent the new one. then the damn thing is huge and has built in wifi, but its sucky compared to the router im using. so now i have an extra router between me and the internet to wreck my ping times.

yes we should have a choice of mech selection after the maps and game type is selected.

always get annoyed when can't get to play a curtain style cos of these problems.
and then some pesky light will come and annoy u.

I see what's going on. They quection is, is there a weaight limit per team that is going to drop? I mean seriously, playing against 4 asssaults in 8 vs 8, is a bit assinine.
