So i bought the Bane collector pack and regreted it. The mech is too big , seriously wider and taller than a MarauderII or Dire Wolf, with the gigantic size not only has problem with the survivalibity but with weapon convergence too.

So you cant use the glasscannon quirks , which is the so called selling point the Banes because you must show your full mech to shoot or half of youre weaponry hit the landmarks and walls.
They must resize this mech(make them smaller) and give them more armorquirks too, yes both in the same time.

So avoid this mech now ,because is below average in survivalibity in his current situation.
The Stone Rhinos or even the Kodiaks are much better than the Banes currently.
So dont spend 40 or 70 dollars on Bane packs, massive disappoinment.

Anyone bought the Ultimate Mech Pack for Bane?

There are three variants I'm especially interested in:

BANE-6 with ECM: so what did OP thought about it, especially vs DWF-C with ECM also 100ton?

BANE-1(S) - OP did not have it; I'm very interested in this variant! Posted Image

BANE-L, aka Leviathan hero mech, with the Modified Ballistic Loader (turns HAG40 into Silver Bullet weapon?). OP did not have it either.

Any comments on this would be appreciated! Posted Image

I am very disappointed, too. They literally suck bad. They cannot fulfill their support role at all unless you play in a well coordinated team that has active spotters and keeps your back free of backstabbers. And this just doesn't exist in this game. The Bane is too big, too slow, to limited in exchanging engines and weapons. Having 8 LRM15 but no Artemis, Tag, Targeting Computer or at least a laser to lock onto a target leaves you as a missile transport mech at best. You will not fire more than a handful of your volleys into a target. And LRMs make do not stop anyone from coming at you. I bought the full package and none of them work properly. I play assaults, a Dire Wolf feels like a lithe gazelle with a massive hammer compared to this lumbering huge and inflexible ammo carrier. Sorry, but this is definitely the worst mech I ever bought. And it is bud ugly, too. I really tried to like it. I still tinker with it - just, you can't tinker with it at all. The hardpoints are lacking big time.

I've really enjoyed the chassis so far, but I have only played 3 of them:

Bane 1 - Stripped out the HMG's and filled up with more ammo and ATS. Played at mid-long range, using terrain to block out half my mech and only showing one side, only exposing fully if target mech was distracted or retreating. Ended up with several games above 800dmg and a handful above 1000dmg - This has been my favourite and best performer thus far.

Bane 2 - In all honesty, I pretty much skipped. I tried to play with the stock loadout and ended up shutdown 90% of the time. I stripped out the MG's and 2 of the UAC-10s and filled up that side of the mech with 6 UAC-2's which performed very similarly to BANE-1, so I maxed out the skills, played a handful of games and moved on.

Bane 3 - Well..... lets says its not been great and I have yet to find a reliable build. I've used the stock version, which was OK until one match a locust got up in my grill and there was nothing i could do about it, but at the same time, the match end results were nothing to shout about. I've tried a splat version, which didn't perform well either, and I tried both Art and Non Art versions ( but this could be due to a lack of defense skill points and I like to earn my skill points ).

The version that has performed on an average is 6 C-LRM15+Art, 2 CSSRM + Narc, with TCVII and CAP. I'll go back to a splat version and see how it performs once I've maxed out the defense skills.

The thing I've noticed about the mech, is as soon as the armour goes you pretty much melt, but that could be due to the lack of defense skills. And because it's a new chassis, I'm assuming I'm a priority target, because who doesn't want to take out the new mech!

But please take this as you will, I took a long hiatus from the game and the last time I would'va played would've been when the Marauder II was introduced. I've only been playing again for a few weeks and I'm currently playing at tier 4 and I was at tier 2 before I stopped IIRC ( assuming tier still has an effect on MM ).

@w0qj

I've tested the Bane-L in Testing Grounds, and switched out the UAC-20 for another HAG40. The speed at which they reload is awesome but i had to get used to alternating fire between the 2. I think it's going to be a great loadout, but it's easy to say that when my targets aren't shooting back at me.

Bane-2 is the only mech I have ever consistently gotten over 1100 damage with in QP. Just load it up with six LB5Xs and 2 AP guass.

Having a "Glass Cannon" on an Assault Mech is an oxymoron. It can't dish the damage it supposed to do, if you peak even a second your pushing into the red.

It also doesn't help that the Bane is slow as **** and forced to deal with ultra wide body making it incredibly easy to hit with Gauss rounds.

The only viable mech is the LRM spammer but beyond that your SOL.

bane 4 is almost playable now that it has armor quirks. The leviathan was my least favorite out of all the banes, too hot, too much spread on the hags. the rest are ok sniper boats provided the enemy team doesn't have any. lrm bane was never going to be competitive but it can be funny to run.

Playing the Bane is on hard mode right now; in addition, some of the chassis were underperforming - hence the buffs. But what I mean by "hard mode" is that everyone guns for the new chassis. They did it with the Legendaries: they did it with the Stone Rhinos, and the Behemoth; and they're doing it with the Bane. With the Bane's intended role as a glass cannon, this is going to lead to some frustrating matches. Play more defensively than you normally have to, and don't be afraid to back off and reposition if you have too much return fire. Some 'mechs are good on release, others are overpowered, others under-perform - and PGI is always monitoring their performance.

As to whether a glass cannon Assault is viable - I present to you the Blood Asp. Up till recently, it had literally no armor bonuses on any component with a weapon hardpoint. It is also one of the best Assaults in the game for dispensing hot blam. Try using the mobility skill tree nodes; with the amount of weapons that thing carries, you likely do not need cooldown, so put those points into things like speed tweak and acceleration, then see how the Bane plays.

the blood asp has some of the best weapon mounts in the game with those tight high shoulders, unlike the bane that has weapon convergence the size of a barn.

The Blood Asp has good weapon mounts that are both a blessing and a curse. Granted it's narrower than the Bane, but those torso mounts are actually too high - the ears can be shot long before your cockpit clears a sight line; I recall once I lost an entire torso to an Incubus spamming LMGs from over a horizon in Tourmaline - I was pinned by his team and unable to get away from him or chase him without taking unsurvivable fire. No, the biggest difference between the two 'mechs is actually speed, which (sometimes with ECM) allows it to maneuver its firepower well. The Bane is much, much slower, which exacerbates its hit boxes and makes positioning a lot harder - which is why I suggest adding speed tweak and maybe reverse speed and seeing what happens.

But it also bears repeating that new 'mechs - particularly Assaults - have a giant target on their backs when they're first released. A week or three from now, the Banes will all be much easier to play.

PS: Even just strong-siding the Bane 1 with PAC/2s and UAC/5s gives you firepower that dwarfs the Blood Asp's meta dakka build, overtopping it by 50%. If you sacrifice all sustain for raw blam to boat those PAC/2s (the only Autocannon you can boat to fill all the hardpoints,) you get a massive 35 DPS. It's only sustainable for ten seconds before skills, but it'll deal more than some entire 'mechs' durability in that timeframe. That's just one build; the overall numbers for the Bane indicated that it was underpowered, and all but one variant was buffed last patch.

I think the BANE-1 is a very strong mech, though less forgiving to play than e.g. an Aksum. You have very high mounts, you have a high cockpit, and if you sidestack you can have exceptional convergence too. The build I run is 9UAC2 right side stacked. It is risky in the sense that you are kinda ****** if you lose your RT, but you can hide your RT completely with your dead side, so it hasn't been a huge issue for me.

Out of the other BANEs, I think the -6 is definitely good as well, the Leviathan and the -2 are at least somewhat unique and solid mechs. The -3, -4 and -7 are kinda *** IMO. vOv
