YES!!! Hail the age of the VIPERS! I got the Loyalty variant, picked up Scaleshot last night w/ MC. Now, this Viper. Not sure what sets it apart from the others. But I plan on snagging it!

But if that is unacceptable, I'm sure you can get a hold of support and ask them to remove the mech, the mech bay goes with it.

I was really hoping for the MAD-9S, a new mech on an existing chassis with no new hardpoints needed. RA - 2E, RT - 2B, H - 1E, CT - 1ECM, LA - 2E.

This is not a complaint, just an observation. This year we are only getting one Christmas mech instead of two like the last few years.

And 1250 MC, you can buy the Hashke or Pirate's Bane on a sale with that much. Unless you really prefer some silly holiday special variant like the small laser MASC Commando that most people can't play that well like last year.
Really, I doubt most people here would enjoy the Viper either and just end up running the LMG+ERML DPS Grimmechs' mixed pods netbuild which then they'd be better off with the C or F than the Prime which is a shame, reducing a chassis to just a single build archetype.

The Viper is hardly any easier to play and that's why more people talked up the second mech last year, the Warhammer.

I mean yeah sure, the Viper-Prime isn't that easy to play *well* but it's easy to play on So8, you just jump shoot at people with the ERML+LMG and pepper them with an LRM10/15, you brought T.Decay right? Any other build on its So8 (pretty meh weapon quirks for how low the amount of weapon tonnage and hardpoint count is) is rather underwhelming you ask me, and even that build has a rather pathetic effective DPS for a fast medium since you'd be relying on the high spread low velocity LRMs of all things. Of which the VPR-D even do better at, on top of it having missile ammo quirk too. At least you can argue that isn't the A (more laser sustain, but encourages a pretty close range playstyle and almost entirely worse than the Scaleshot in that role you can say) or the B (ER PPC poptart sniper with no cooldown quirk on a platform with barely any cooling) which while arguably more effective, are probably even harder to play for your average player.
And the mixed pod builds aren't that different from how you'd play ERML+LMG lights like the Sekhmet or the Spider-5K I guess, which aren't bad mechs and neither is the Viper on such configuration, but again, you're probably better off getting the actual VPR-C (because they tied some of its armor quirks to its So8 rather than on the pods) or F (LMG/MG ammo quirks on So8) if you want to run those.
Compared to a pretty meh Warhammer variant (just get a Thanatos or play the trial NTG-H if you want to run 2 gauss) I guess you can call it an improvement in some regards sure.
