It is official, no click bait.

If you are interested in the Dasher, you will get the opportunity to procure it in January.

Just going to copy/paste what I posted on discord yesterday.

Since this question will be asked a million times.
"In the past you said the Fire Moth would break MWO, why are you releasing it now PGIMan?"

You might remember the week of super speed event queues we did around 4 months back. This was operating as a test to see exactly where things started to break down. One thing we learned was that the real offender against hitreg was more acceleration and deceleration rather than just top speed. The Fire Moth will move 209 kph with full skills + MASC engaged, but it won't have the full mobility you would expect of a 20 tonner(more akin to a Mist Lynx rather than a Locust or Flea). The Fire Moth will also gain a reduced acceleration/deceleration bonus from its MASC. This doesn't mean the mech has no maneuverability, just slightly less than your average 20 tonner. Instead, it will make up for it with its massive top speed.

The Fire Moth variants will be the
FMT-PRIME
FMT-B
FMT-C
FMT-D
FMT-H
FMT-K
FMT-AL "Aletha" hero mech

All of these mechs are on sarna and can be looked up. The only changes will be removing A-Pods in place of heatsinks and/or armor.

Makes sense to me. Any chance, (and yes, this is actual variant, not P for Piranha Graphics), we'll see the P variant? My though on this would be to remove the MASC, and leave the Supercharge as is. It has 12 Micro Pulse Lasers. That'd be a sweet Loyalty reward come November next.

I'm a little confused, not just because the only official announcement pictures (that I've seen) is a picture on reddit.

When is it going to be released? Christmas? Will there be another patch this month?

Pardon my questions, I'm just excited.

This picture is in the email PGI sent us.

https://www.reddit.c...anuary_finally/ found the actual reddit thread that OP did not provide Where did you find the data on configurations? ETA: if other than what sarna.net says, since PGI often alters lore hardpoints.

It only has 5 tons of free tonnage with max armor, giving it more hardpoints is really only going to allow something like microlaser/MG spam, something that the Piranha already does and shows to be rather underwhelming and is hardly that different from heavy small laser boating which this thing also would be able to do already. You can just play the D if you want 5 C-ERML too. Or the H for C-ERSLs.

The reversed arms on the firemoth remind me of this guy.

Actually, the Moth has 6.5 tons of pod space. Make no mistake, someone is going to find a way to add more at the expense of armor. Just to add 1.5 tons more, and run a pair ER Large Lasers.

I've got a couple of good builds that require stripping off significant amounts of armor. An Arctic Cheetah with 2 ERPPC, and that free commando we got last Christmas, with 2 SNPPC

Maybe that is the case on BT where not nearly everything runs on max armor like on this game, not to mention it looks bigger than the Flea. Oh and the fact that hitting something is an actual diceroll instead and speed tanking is more reliable than it is here through that. Oh right, and the fact that 1t of armor isn't as big of a value of a mech's entire HP as it is here.
But unless it has special endo steel structure/armor type AND special Light C-MASC that is only 0.5t instead of 1t it's not really going to be run viably like that.
I mean if you want to go from 3.5t of armor to 3t, you would have to shave off like 19 points here, you can go with 0 head armor and then 1 off from other limbs (which actually represents a decent amount of percentage of the armor just because this is a 20t by the way, unless they're gonna give it a lot of armor quirks for its size) sure. But again, what you're getting out of it is just what? 2 micro lasers worth of free tonnage or 1 C-ERSL, or 2 C-SRM tubes more.
And if you want to go to 2t of armor just to be lore accurate? Well you gotta take off 38 points (because C-FF armor) total more.
And this would be the sort of armor count it would have without quirks:

Well 2SNPPC MASC Commando would involve using XL and no MASC, pretty much not leveraging much of that variant's strength, and is hardly worth it over something like the trial Firestarter that runs similar loadout, similar speed and with JJs too. Oh, also the MASC Vulcan is a thing.
As for 2C-ERPPC ACH, well the Shadow Cat exists.

Well, in any case, there is one thing that needs to be addressed. Like Clan Waves 1 thru 3 Packs as before, I want the Invasion skin, and be able to select which faction I want: CJF, CW, CGB, or CSJ. Tiyos, you and the Devs owe us that much. Can you guys make this happen, please? Please?

4 cSPL 7 cERuL
11 uPL
Even 11 ERSLs alternating fire

Sounds like fun.

I expect that the forums will be flooded with "Nerf Lights!" and "Lights are OP! Remove them from the game!" soon.

Things made for MW5 get back-ported because at that point it is easy money as half the work has been done already (concept art, modeling, UVs, camos, etc). It'd be a different story if we were still getting exclusive content.

I think that this is not difficult to explain: The Dasher is probably planned to be included in some future MechWarrior 5: Clans expansion pack. And since PGI has already created the model of the 'Mech, it can offer the 'Mech here too, in case some MechWarrior Online player would be interested in the 'Mech.

After all, this is exactly what PGI already did with the Hatchetman two years ago. Originally destined to appear in the Call to Arms expansion pack for the MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries game, PGI offered it as a 'Mechpack for the MechWarrior Online game too.

If there is an Invasion version available for preorder, I'm getting it! Now that the Viper has an Invasion skin, I want one for the Firemoth too!
