Decent quirks. But how long will it be before the super comp players and/or the Cauldron complain about them being OP because lesser pilots actually pose some kind of threat? And make the typical excuse of "Oh well I can get 3000 damage in a match and absolutely stomp with it. It's waaay OP!" Yea...you do that already. So instead of rofl stomping a team into the ground you stomp them a little deeper into the ground?
"Well then everyone will pilot it." And? Nothing has really changed. Its still an even playing field. Tier 4's and 5's are used to getting stomped. It just makes Tier 3 on up more competitive. If you're truly great then you can counter it no matter who is piloting it. People will get bored with the build eventually and move on to something else.
"So they can just set stupidly OP quirks?" You think PGI is THAT dumb? Especially by now? They test this stuff before release and aren't going to be so incredibly stupid and incompetent that they'll give a light mech +50 armor and +50 structure in the center torso. They are going to set quirks in some basis of reality. And I normally don't defend PGI. But they aren't THAT dumb.
"But it'll chase away players and new players." That's already happened. And will continue to happen no matter whats done at this point. We're not attracting new players to make any kind of meaningful impact anytime soon. That's the reality. I'm not saying do whatever the hell we want though. The community isn't THAT small. I play a pvp game with a community of less than 100 people. So God forbid you have to EARN a win and take a hit to your stats. And that includes ME as well. Also I have never noticed any real differences in match outcomes with mechs with "OP" quirks or not. And don't give me the statistics or math. People will feel what they feel. And since that it is a sizeable amount of players it has to be addressed on a more personal level. People aren't going to think about the friggin' math or read these forums. That same consequential and sizeable group of players contribute into keeping this game ALIVE too.
Besides if a Tier 3 attacks me with an originally stat'ed Scaleshot and I'm a Tier 1 I might get annoyed. I may even swear up a storm on Discord. And I may even ragequit the match. But dammit I'm gonna take the hit and come back and fight it because I love this game so much. I'm sure you feel the same way as well but I'm expressing a perspective that you may not ever have taken into account. I'm only passionate because I love the game.

And since I know I've kicked the virtual hornet nest on these forums before don't respond with too many sarcastic remarks, insults, condescension and mean spirited disagreements please. I play this game and have opinions too.

Since you specifically asked for it, I will try to avoid sarcasm. Can you give current examples of what you are talking about - mechs that make "lesser pilots actually pose some kind of threat"? Just to take some mechs that were op on release - Scaleshot and Aksum - people weren't complaining about you killing them with those mechs, Ramrod. They didn't get nerfed to keep you down. The thing you are willfully ignorant of here is that lobbies aren't one strong pilot and the rest are all weaker pilots. There are lots of possible constellations, and from my own experience, I really only care about the specific mechs being played if the enemy pilot is at least decent. Especially in Event Queue, where there is no matchmaking that considers pilot tier at all, I get to play against lots of good mechs piloted by less experienced/more casual pilots and I honestly couldn't care less about what I guess are T5 Aksums/SR-6/BSK-6.

Some further points in your post that I want to touch on:

- So good players have to "EARN a win", and you don't? You get a little participation trophy in the cute crutch mech? I don't see in your post how exactly this is supposed to work. Are we just going to play the game and whoever has the current op mech probably gets to win, but we all promise to not pick it every time, so everyone has to "EARN" the win from time to time?

- Cauldron has previously given mechs stupid OP quirks, one because to err is human and they are reliant on prediciting future performance with past experiences in different situations, and two because they definitely can't test their changes beforehand in a proper QP setting.

- Feelings don't beat facts, so you discarding math outright just seems like you know it isn't backing up your perspective. A better argument could be made against the stats the game has on offer, as they don't really allow to gauge the performance of mechs in a precise manner. Even comp stats aren't super useful apart from how much a given mech is picked - and even that stat only has limited usefulness for QP.

How would those hands ever even work? Stupidest looking mech ever.

There's actually a lore reason for it. Fire Moths were originally meant as BattleArmor busses in the prototype stage, and had Troop boxes that were supposed to be mounted on the arms, hence the raised position. The Troop box concept turned out to be a flop, but they kept the arms in that position for the production model. This is also why its successors design doesn't have the raised arms, as it was never designed to have those troop-carrying boxes in the first place.

6 mechs yet only 5 cockpit items. Is it possible to get cockpit items for each mech?

The definition of "Too little, too late.", MWO is in it's palliative twilight.
Decent model though. Shame 99% of players left long, long ago.

Maybe for you, but as the saying goes, "Better late, than never." If you really hate PGI so much, then why do you stay here instead of deleting your account and washing your hands of them? Sure PGI, has its problems and I won't deny or forget those said problems, but I'll admit that they do care enough to at least bust their tails and try to put in effort.

Why does he stay here? 'Cause he has every right to play the game and voice his opinions.

I'm all fine with voicing your opinions. It's good to let PGI know what you are disappointed with in MWO, examples like "I'm disappointed we don't have these mechs yet", " I don't like the balance with this mech or this weapon needs to be like this or that". But the difference with this guy is that he does this to be petty and ungrateful and doesn't offer any useful information about how MWO needs to improve. For Pete's sake, he even went to a selfie thread contest to whine at people who had a Warden Pack for just having fun. Now It's good that you let your voice be heard and vote with your wallet, but there is a fine line between constructive criticism and cynical trolling. And if you want to defend a person who does nothing but troll PGI regardless of how long they've played, that's your business.

I don't know what he's done in the past. I'm talking about what he said. He clearly mentioned that the mech is decent but it's a little too late, which is a perfect description of what the game is like now. And if it has be said repeatedly, then so be it. The mods will take care of it.

I'm really looking forward to this one. It's my all-time favorite light ’Mech, and I'm so glad it's coming back to MechWarrior after nearly 30 years of (official) absence.

I predict it'll be something of a light cavalry or skirmisher. I also predict Streak SRMs might become more popular for a short time as a means of dealing with it until the meta stabilizes again and people start treating it like all the other bugmechs. I don't expect anyone who isn't already a career light pilot to pull the big numbers with it – at least not right away – but I do expect it'll be pretty annoying for a while as far as people who prefer heavier ’Mechs are concerned. I'm not terribly worried about how much damage it'll do. Even just today, I was doing fairly decent in a stock Clan Flea, which only has 2 ER meds, 2 SRM-6s, and a flamer. If that thing can do work in QP, so can the Fire Moth.

On the other hand, if it's optimized by any means... I wonder if it can replace my aging Arctic Cheetah when it becomes tournament legal... I may use it in future CS seasons regardless, once it's out for C-bills, but yeah, I'm definitely going to enjoy this thing. lol

I can't wait until the Fire Moth reaches the hands of modders. It's gonna be so good to play a proper Mechwarrior 2 remake in MW5 with all the designs (minus the Tarantula). I still want more of this mod:

Can't wait for the firemoth, but i am reminded why i don't like the pre order system being forced to buy the standard mechs before i can get the hero/champion
