Piranha has explained before that doing so is dramatically more work than it sounds since the cockpit needs to be entirely redone, all the weapon mounts need to be redone, the 'mech's animations often need to be adjusted to make sense at its new size, so on and so forth. Scaling up (or down) an existing 'mech is not actually that much less work than simply making a new one from mostly scratch. It's also why rescales/remodels for oversized or undersized 'Mechs never really happened, even during the heyday of MWO's profitability. Why spend all those resources on something you couldn't sell when making a whole new 'Mech was a fresh shot in the bank account for the same resources?

I didn't think about that aspect of making mechs. I was thinking that with how the Nova was converted into the Black Hawk KU, it would be easier for PGI to convert other designs like that with minimal resource for the KU-like designs.

i really wish people would stop giving game developers passes for doing shortcuts.

this is precisely why the black hawk ku was the first omni, it required very little work. we had this same discussion when iic mechs became a thing. at least in these cases it worked with the lore, but its still not something we as customers should be asking for. thats like telling boeing its ok not to tighten down the bolts holding the door on.

Will9761 did you know you can still play almost all of the IS omni mechs? all you need to do is download the free copy of Mechwarrior4 with the MekTek pack installed it still will run on modern PC computers and some people still play it on GameRanger and you can play matches with friend as well.

The templar and Avatar sunder and more were very fun to play as there were still a few leagues left to battle others worldwide back then.

If you look on Discord, I think the old CYT (Clan Coyote) comms are up it has the links for the Mektek mod and a few old MechWarrior's still hanging around.

Personally, I'd love to see my Hauptmann or a Templar, but given the state PGI is in, I don't know if its possible. I'm happy that the Black Hawk KU is in, but I do want to see more than just the KU. I don't mind if they are new art or recycled, I'm open to see more. I just want more options.

I'm aware of that, but not talking about Mechwarrior 4 nor am I interested in it, I'm talking about MWO. If I also wanted to play those mechs, I could also go to MW5's YAML and download the mods to do so. I love the modders rendition's of the IS Omnis, but I'm more curious to see how PGI would do them if given the opportunity.

The size of the Black Hawk and the Nova are exactly the same; there was no scaling done. Some tube geo was added (e.g., cooling tubes like in lore) and that's it.

I imagine that'd be the same thing with both the Summoner/Sunder and Mad Dog/Avatar. Although both would need a slight makeover.

Do a search for mechwarrior 4. There are several different versions of it, including the Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries MekTek MP3.1 Release #51.03.01.0017, with at least one Reddit post that lists all the versions and links.
