Greetings Mechwarriors!

For those who weren’t with us during its time, the Solaris game mode was a 1v1 and 2v2 oriented game mode that divided mechs into divisions and kept ongoing leaderboards. The leaderboards would give out exclusive prizes based on placement and would refresh every three months. To bring back the spirit of that mode, we are announcing our Solaris Reborn Event Queue tournament!

The event will have 4 phases, each dedicated to each weight class. Each phase will run for 5 days followed by a 2 day rest period(check below for schedule). The leaderboard ranking for each phase will be based on your Win/Loss ratio and will require 30 matches minimum played to be placed on each phase leaderboard. If you have no interest in playing a weight class such as lights, it will not have any impact on your placement in any other weight class leaderboards. The leaderboard rankings for this event will not be public but will rather be announced once the Event Queue is completed. There will also be an event running that will give out exclusive Solaris Reborn warhorns among other currencies for playing in the event! These warhorns will use sounds from older Solaris warhorns that cannot be obtained in game anymore.

Event Queue Phase Schedule:
  • Phase 1 - Assault Mechs: March 20 10:00 PDT / 17:00 UTC to March 25 10:00 PDT / 17:00 UTC
  • Phase 2 - Heavy Mechs: March 27 10:00 PDT / 17:00 UTC to April 1 10:00 PDT / 17:00 UTC
  • Phase 3 - Medium Mechs: April 3 10:00 PDT / 17:00 UTC to April 8 10:00 PDT / 17:00 UTC
  • Phase 4 - Light Mechs: April 10 10:00 PDT / 17:00 UTC to April 15 10:00 PDT / 17:00 UTC

Each day of each phase will be running a different Solaris map.

Rewards

There will be an event giving out warhorns, Cbills, and GSP for playing the Event Queue for those who aren’t interested in placing on the leaderboard! For those of you with a more competitive spirit, each phase will have their own specific prizes based on their leaderboard placements. These prizes are per division:

  • First Place: Title/Badge “Solaris Reborn [weight class] Champion,” Decal, 1000 GSP
  • Places 2-30: Title/Badge “Solaris Reborn [weight class] Runner Up,” Decal, 500 GSP
  • Places 30+: Title/Badge “Solaris Reborn Participant,” 100 GSP
Stay tuned for the event rewards!

Nice looking event.

Is there any plans to either change or remove the Steam and in-game Solaris achievements that haven't been achieveable since the Event Queue was added to the game? Mainly for newer players. Steam achievements can be removed fairly easily, whilst the ones in the client could be simply archived for posterity.

This is probably the best idea for the player count.

I think you may want to ask the community if they prefer longer waits and larger matches 12 vs 12, or some smaller idea for quick play? Going into the northern hemisphere summer months when online games tend to slow a bit?

If it gets too long, any new players will think it is broken or nobody is playing? Which is not healthy.

Or maybe have a 4 v 4 or 6 v 6 (if possible), quick play option and the regular 12 vs 12? No drop decks

But as a troll pug, My opinion is not worth much.

Just a thought, as I am occasionally having long waits.

My apologies if this has already been or is being discussed on these boards somewhere.

Places - 30+ doesn't really incentivize the majority of people that are going to end up there to play more than one match. Especially as the combat in the mode devolves and players get tired of dealing with exploitive builds.

"Places - 30+ doesn't really incentivize the majority of people that are going to end up there to play more than one match. Especially as the combat in the mode devolves and players get tired of dealing with exploitive builds."

So, they don't stand a chance from the start, or they know they don't stand a chance somewhere along the way?
Why would such confidant people push the button at all?
Pushing the button once is worth more than 100 GSP?

Once you get beat a few times, you know you aren't going to be the winner in a 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2?

The only real incentive is still winning? And if a build is in the game, why is it "exploitive" to use it?

How does a combat mode "devolve?" Is that irrational thought in a video game? As it suggests they are hacking or something else?

What are they doing, winning?

The people who will be trying to get on the leaderboard as high as they can will be running builds optimized for Solaris 1v1s... that means armor maxed, ammo dropped, etc. There's no exploit... there's only optimization. You want to run whatever and participate, cool, you get participation awards. You want to get up high, cool, you run optimized builds.

Yeah I guess never mind my prior post, I didn't realize just how incredibly low the game's population has dropped to since I last looked into it. 500 on steam, probably generous to estimate the same from the direct launcher, might actually just be time to switch to solaris full time so the remaining players can get matches in a reasonable amount of time.
