Bullshark Void Killer and War Ghoul

Our legends this month are the Bullshark War Ghoul and Clan Bullshark Void Killer, debuting a new special weapon!

The Railgun will be a locked weapon unique to the two Bullsharks carrying it in their artillery mounts, they won't be added to the general loot pool. These two legends will release in a single pack with a single battlepass, like the Hashké and Abaddon. While each side torso has 5 slots taken for the Railgun mount, losing an ST will not crit out the Railgun. This means you can run a standard engine build if you desire. Both clan and IS railguns will have the same stats:

  • Weight: 30 tons
  • Damage: 40 pinpoint + 12 splash on each side
  • Ghost Heat Limit: 1 (adding any PPC will incur heat penalty)
  • Heat: 20
  • Cooldown: 7.5
  • Velocity: 2000
  • Range: 810m/2050m
  • Ammo per ton: 4(6 with skills)
  • Weapon Health: 15 (it can only be crit out in the CT)
  • Explosion Chance: 90%
  • Explosion Damage: 35 (damage only applied to CT)
  • This weapon uses the same charge and screen shake behavior as Heavy Gauss

RAILGUN WEAPON FIRE

WAR GHOUL LEGEND and QUIRKS

VOID KILLER LEGEND and QUIRKS

The War Ghoul and Void Killer Legendary Pack

will be Available for purchase on the MWO Store and Steam

Store Adjustments:

  • Dragoon Booster Pack mechs released for C-Bills
  • Fire Moth released for MC
  • Bane Warhorn released for MC

Weapon Changes:

  • Added railgun ammo skills to IS and Clan skill tree ammo nodes
  • Increased LRM10 minimum heat penalty threshold to 5 (from 4) - You can now fire four LRM10s with no heat penalty
  • Increased Clan LRM 10 minimum heat penalty threshold to 5 (from 4) - You can now fire four cLRM10s with no heat penalty
  • Clan LRMs now fire missiles in pairs. This effectively cuts their duration in half.

Omnipod Changes:

  • Added Gargoyle GAR-P right torso omnipod for C-Bills. This omnipod will contain 2 iJJ
  • Reduced iJJ count in GAR-M Left Torso to 2 (from 4)

Note: The GAR-M having 4 iJJ restricts its build variety a little heavier than we hoped. By reducing the count to 2 in the GAR-M LT, players will gain 4 extra tons to spend. Players who want to keep their 4 iJJ builds to jump to the moon will still be able to by equipping the newly released GAR-P Right Torso. This preserves the jump capacity while adding more flexibility on the mech.

Bolt-On Changes:

  • Non legendary/booster mech variants can now equip legendary/booster bolt ons(this may not be available for all variants of a chassis, as sometimes specific variant geometry or hardpoints will block these bolt ons). These bolt ons are still locked to legendary mech purchasing only, but players will now have more freedom in choosing where these bolt ons go.

Patch Files (Direct Download)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

Patch File(s): - TBD
Download the above file(s)
For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
Launch the MWO Portal
Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
Click the blue Patch button
The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch
Once the patch is complete, launch the game

On paper the rail guns seem OP to me. I think the cooldown is a bit too short for their damage potential. On the flipside these variants will likely be focused so hard that the player might as well disconnect and start another game.

Any chance of getting the Rail gun as a new piece of equipment?

Also, any chance of getting the Canon version of the Gargoyle M?

Excited for the Railgun, doesn't look like it will be OP, It's not alpha creeping past what was already possible, just 2 hag30s but heavier with HGauss reticle shake worse cooldown worse heat so that it can be a single projectile, which also has splash so it's not a new amount of PPFLD either, I think it will definitely be strong, also it's a rail gun so it's got the rule of cool.

Edit: just realized it has heat dissipation quirks for some reason??? Maybe it will be OP lmao

Love the mauler changes, I think too many glass cannons are boring, also glass cannons lower ttk, now just need to remove the last 15% cooldown and give it a bunch more structure. : )

I also like the Warhammer IIC buffs, other then the maul the mech felt eh, so many other mechs I would rather bring instead if going for performance, I only played it cause I like it.

stupid and ridiculous placement in the head slot, why not have it share each shoulder as dual weapon and keep the head slot for tactical space...
and the use of that many lasers in the other slots is just asking for nuclear mech heat suicide, who ever came up with this crazy build had better prove it in practical vlog video...

I assume you're talking about the legendary bullshark, the builds looks pretty standard for a gaussvom build, a little unoptimized which they probably did on purpose.

it's the ct not the head slots that the railgun is in, also it's in the st as well, it's split between the ct and both side torsos.

Also it will be hot but something lots of players don't understand I find is that it's not the heat alone, it's the D.P.H, or Damage Per Heat, sure a build like that will be hot, but it's doing a lot of damage for the heat it's producing, so it's actually very efficient

For example, first build that comes to mind for me on the clan one is railgun + 2 HLL + 4 ERMeds, this is a build I would test, not the one on it, it's for example only.
The heat for an alpha is 20 for the Railgun, 14.5 for each HLL, and 4.8 for each ermed.
so the alpha heat would be 68.2, you would use standard heatsinks since HLL don't weight much and SHS are great for heat capacity, and with full heat skills you should be just under 100% heat, I didn't math it.

So that build sounds bad because it's stupid hot right?
The thing is, with splash included once you hit something you will have done 124 damage! So it's actually very efficient.

So the mech should be braindead easy to play, you peek do 124 damage, hide behind cover for like 10 seconds to cool off and then repeat, do that a few times and boom easy 1k damage.

Hope this was informative : )

As someone that has 2 accounts one for Clan mechs and one for IS mechs, this type of combined pack is not ideal... I can't be the only one.

A Railgun compensating for the lack of a Thumper Cannon is a fair compromise. The only question is, how much damage will it do?

only if the HAg 40 gets it's 40 pinpoint damage back.

So what, we're fine with a Duelist (already one of the better vehicles in the game albeit a lot more balanced) that actually has other weapons, more range, armor, better weapon placement, and is also faster? It could lose all of the armor and heat quirks and still be that.
Because hey, someone thought it's okay to do like 60-80 accurate damage every 10 seconds because it's 10 seconds apparently.

Also the Viper buff forgot to include +velocity% or more -heat% because someone got too fixated on -spread% too.

PGI, if any of you decide to find out the reason for the steadily decreasing number of active players, here is some food for thought.
I went to play MBO on a day off. I played for three hours. I played 14 matches. Only in two of them did I end up on the winning team. My gaming experience: for 12 losses, there were only two wins, that is, the loss/win ratio is 6:1. Considering that on weekdays I can devote no more than an hour to the game (and that is a maximum of 5 battles), do you think I would want to spend this hour on a game that with a high probability can only give me a loss?
With all my sincere respect to you, PGI. Perhaps in one of the next patches you will remember about team balance?
