I've been of the mindset to just gut the PSR entirely as its only use in the game is for matchmaking purposes and its honestly not hard to tank your ranking to set yourself back.
Plus they did that whole adjustment to quickplay because the games been bleeding players and Que times where getting bad.

or hear me out
the smaller match size option is allowed to be used without people pooping their pants and smearing it on their screens as they screech in indignant fury

And people wonder why I strongly dislike Conquest, or wish the turrets were returned to assault bases....

I’ve always found the rating system after its rework very strange — it’s much harder to gain points than to lose them for reasons beyond your control.
But now something absolutely ridiculous has happened. And it turns out this is actually how the system works.
.
You are 100% correct on being unsatisfied. It is like the system is saying - "hey, you sucked". But you know you rocked.
I did not read the whole thread, but the very 1st answer explains it well. I don't know for fact if that is how the system works, but It makes sense. This answer:

your PSR rating, is NOT a reward. It is simply a matchmaking metric....You are not being punished when it goes down....Realistically, it shouldnt even show you your PSR change at all, because showing it causes exactly this kind of confusion. You havent actually done anything wrong. You just think you have because your PSR went down.
.
And you know how you can tell that is true? Because Matchmaker is no good, "little end of match red or green arrow" is no good, system logic is no good. Otherwise, if it did some good quality work, you would not end up playing five matches in a row and seeing "End Of Round Screen" like this: 12 to 1, 11 to 1, 11 to 2, 10 to 2.
Personally, I am just thankful for MWO, Dev's work, Dev's creativity! I don't think they have the manpower to change this broken mechanism.
There might be a workaround, like: have the Matchmaker keep track of a real-time player performance(lets say past 5 rounds), and rebalance teams every round. Keep a cache of changes for the past 24 hours for reference.
And as far as the original concern about unfairness.
Forget about that arrow nonsense. You did good? Then GG. Have Fun. Your reward is - good time, not some arrow. Lets also put it this way - if you had a grand BAD time and NO fun at all - but the little arrow is green ... are you really happy with that?
