problem is if team doesnt deal with lights, you have to, or say bye to 80-100 tons. people shoot the biggest threats, to assaults that's other assaults and squirrels. there is more money in hitting the assaults though. but you cannot hit assaults if you are dead.

Generous amounts of MC & CBills handed out!
New mech chassis & new variants constantly coming out!
New weapons! (The Arrow IV weapon is coming via the upcoming Naga I/II mech!)
New maps!
New Skill Tree! ==>You can directly spend 5 Skill Points to get +20% Torso Pitch to shoot at Lights at your feet!
(Just +8% Torso Pitch is enough IMHO)

Good to see you! it's been a while.
I hope you have been doing good.
Hey guys! It’s been a while!
As for my skill level there was no problem there. The issue was Chris made changes to assaults where you couldn’t look down far enough to actually shoot a light mech. Or spin fast enough to defend yourself if you couldn’t pick them off beforehand. These 2 huge changes ended up being the final reason I walked away from MWO.
I understand it’s a team game, but completely removing the ability to defend yourself was absolutely a terrible idea. I’m not expecting to spin at light speed. I accepted the speed before. It was the change after that wasn’t acceptable.

Turn/twist speed will be mech dependent, but if you find a mech lacking you can now boost it. Skill tree will let you boost pitch by up to 20%, torso speed by 30%, and turn speed by 30% if you're willing to sacrifice the points in other areas. You'll still have some mechs that struggle, but it can make mechs feel a lot snappier and help with spreading damage.
Only you can test it out to see if it fast enough for the mechs you want to play. I would say it's worth at least trying it out again.
As for the broader game, population is down so the matchmaker struggles more. Doesn't feel like a ton of community activities going on, but there is still a small active comp scene and maybe some groups that play FP. I would say time to kill is down due to the inevitable hardpoint creep and new weapons leading to bigger alphas and heavier hitting loadouts. Light engines (for IS) made it viable for a lot of mechs to carry more/heavier guns.

All I can really say is Chris stopped doing balance patches in March 2021 and the cauldron took over in April 2021. The skill tree was revamped to something much better which lets you access pitch nodes much more easily (on top of mechs being more agile) since that seems to be an issue you had.

Everything that everyone here has said.
Eh. It is free to play at least. Wouldn't hurt to fire it up and give it a few rounds. LOTS of changes since those mobility reduction patches (i kinda remember those.)
I would say give it 10 matches before giving a decent assessment though. The current nature of the game is it can be very....stompy. Its always had that capability, but with the current mix of playerbase (low pop) there is a lesser degree of separation between someone whos casual and a more competitive mindset. With zero hope of fixing it.
Sometimes you will get a blowout match (win or lose) and it doesn't feel good for anyone. Sometimes that can happen 2-3 times in a row. Sometimes it can be pretty decent that day.
Faction play is struggling outside of events and community coordinated time frames. So if that was your jam that will be a hit or miss.
Can always use more players so I hope ya come back and at least give it a shot! Welcome back!

Yes, it can be enormously frustrating to be that isolated assault being stung to death by an angry bee. You KNOW all you need to do is land that one clean hit, and being unable to do so can be absolutely maddening. However...that is the price you pay for carrying unmatched, unmatchable Ultra Mega Firepower that can eradicate anything under fifty tons in a single salvo. People keep dropping their engine caps to cram more and more and more guns, making their 'mechs slower and more sluggish while relying on the Domination game mode and other people all doing the same thing to minimize their mobility penalty's actual cost in-game.
Assaults having trouble with lights is game Working As Intended. That said, the usual answer is to put guns in your arms and unlock your elbows, and even then cases of leg-humping lights are almost entirely gone save as a tactic of last-resort desperation in matches I've been in. Light 'Mechs in general are fairly uncommon, really.
The community...is as it ever was. For good or ill.

Nope, you can't kill the good light pilots in an assault and the tiers are irrelevant so you'll find most matches are feast or famine. Would I recommend it to a new or returning player? The answer is definitely not for a new player, but for a returning player much like myself its an addiction and not a healthy one. If I could find a mech fix somewhere else I'd be gone like a shot
