I have always really liked the concept of bands like Amon Amarth and Týr, and Viking Metal etc in general... and other simmilar styles.

Unfortunatly I have never liked the whole thing with the screaming, the death growling and generaly vocals of this nature. To me it destroys perfectly awesome songs, take Amon Amarth's song "The Pursuit of Vikings" for example... the instumental stuff in that song is pretty much awesome! But due to the vocals I am unable to enjoy the song. On a simmilar note, I don't really care for instumentals where they play extreamly fast either, to me all the nuance of it goes away when they do that.

I prefer stuff where you can actually hear clearly what the singer is singing, and instrumental that do not sound like the one playing is having an epileptic seizure at the same time. I need both the vocals and the instumental parts to be to my liking for me to really like a song, if one part is "off" somehow, I have a hard time liking it. Lyrics them self matters little to me when it comes to songs as well (unless it's racistic or other offensive stuff).

LOL, that's awesome.

I never thought I'd enjoy music in a language I can't even remotely understand. :D

Not to mention that most people who listen to Finntroll probably think that they sing in Finnish since they are from Finland... but the truth to the matter is that they sing in Swedish. :D

Tyr isn't very screamy at all. Very clear vocals.

True, I sort of forgot I had put them in the string of artists just befor I talked about the screaming and death growling stuff. :)

But none the less, in my second paragraph I said:

"I need both the vocals and the instumental parts to be to my liking for me to really like a song, if one part is "off" somehow, I have a hard time liking it."

I am, to say the least, very particular with the music I listen to. If something feels "off" to me I have a hard time pushing through and really liking a song. It does not matter who made it, It could be my all time favorit artists, my all time most hated artists, or heck the worlds most/least successful artists or what ever... makes no difference.

It's really only the big and obvious parts that I could point at, like screaming and death growling, or "speed playing" the instruments, etc, as to why I might like or dislike or even feel indifferent about a song. But then there are the small nuance that seems to make all the difference in all genres of music for me, the parts where I can't point at why it makes a difference if I like it or not. There could be two groups that are pretty much identical, playing the same kind of music, same idea, same type of instrumental and vocal idea, pretty much same everything... but of some reason I like one of them and not the other. Same goes for music genres I don't like, where of some reason I do like one artist or a few songs.

So with Týr I like the concept of them and their music. But so far all the songs I have heard have had something that feels off to me, something that I can't compleatly point at and say "this is why".

In general I am a cherry picker to the extream when it comes to music. The majority of my music insterest resides with in the Heavy Metal tree and a lot of it's sub-genres branching of from it. But where many people who like this music might have a pretty full tree with a thick trunk and loads of thick branches, with only a few branches cut away...

my Metal tree's trunk, branches, twigs etc, is greatly hollowed out, loads of branches are also compleatly snapped off and removes, where some smallet twigs of those branches might have goten stuck in the tree's other branches. Basicly what's left is a carcase of a Metal tree, that most people would think looked like a dead tree. Then there is the rest of the forest, where pretty much atleast 90-95 of the none metal parts of it has been pretty much compleatly deforested and the stumps dug up and removed, with only a few stumps and branches and twigs still around, and even then the remaining 5-10% of the tree's are greatly savaged with very little left of them... it's only the Metal tree that even looks like a tree still, and only the Hard Rock tree might come close since it is a close relative to Metal. :D

Native Americans would be crying if they saw my music forest... :D

Sorry for the wall of text... I ALWAYS tend to write to much when I chat, write on forums, or write on internet in general. :D

Ok so back to declaring loyalty and such...The Clan Smoke Jaguar high command has met, all opinions have been heard, and it has been decided by us that we will indeed be throwing our Pre-Invasion lot with the Free Rasalhauge Republic, we just cannot resist an opportunity to smash on the Draconis Combine. Long Live the Republic, and Long Live Clan Smoke Jaguar!

(you know...since we never fight you guys :))

Sooo, anyone good at website development? I'm thinking of purchasing a domain name for us. We could set up a forum, give every unit their own section, tie us all together. Thoughts?

It looks as if High Command has spoken on this issue, and we shall fight at your side to expand your border with the Draconis Combine until such time as our own invasion begins. I look forward to fighting with each of you,

Talked with my brother (who will also be playing MWO), we may be able to utilize our failed multi-gaming group's website and vBulletin to set up a home us and for all those wayward FRR merc units who don't want to have their own websites (they'd have their own sections) and use that as a gathering point for random talk and coordination. Sounds like we couldn't change the url, but we could set up a website that redirects. Hmmm.

So Smokies, I know it's really early, but what are you guys gonna do if they don't allow established clan names for Merc Corp names? Or what if (don't kill me!) they don't let us play as the clans when they invade?

Sidenote... I'm awful close to doing what I hate and trying to start up the 3rd Drakøns on my own. A scary proposition.

Welcome Jag's, I hope you can fight as well as you can talk with inferior equipment. Not having Omni's 24/7 and twice the IS range is going to definatly change your world.

Here's to a great fight and lots of C-Bills and beer afterwards. Bring it pups' ill be waiting in a dark alley near you :)

I am just a Cadet, but I think the clan would just roll with it. They have been Smoke Jaguar for years, so they will play Smoke Jaguar in MWO by one name or another.

A rose by any other name....still gets crushed under the heel of our touman, so to speak.

Cheers
