Friendship and loyalty are often underrated these days. You may believe you are strong and can act independent, and that very well may be true; however, you never know when you might find yourself in a disadvantageous situation, and the only thing that could help you are external influences.

With the Free-2-Play model being incorporated into this game, we can expect waves of malicious players to spread their vile digital bits across the MWO servers. We can expect that many of these players will attempt to debase our playing experience, and degenerate this game into a troll-haven spinoff. Players who uphold themselves to more honorable standards will be harassed, and inevitably find themselves stuck in unfortunate circumstances.

Recently, I started a small corporation (forum @ www.carrioncrows.com)as it's something I've always wanted to do. Some players have shown interest; we're a small group, but show promises to grow thus far. However, I still realize we need friends. Thus, I propose a free alliance between willing mercenary groups. Details can be hammered out as discussions develop, but I imagine a network of allied mercenary corporations that honor and protect one another when facing external threats that could afflict all of us. Additionally, perhaps we could share infrastructure and resources, saving all of us some costs and redundancy in efforts.

Again, these are just my preliminary ideas. I think it makes sense for us to band together and protect one another, as we will have plenty of challengers when the game is finally open to the public.

Thoughts? If there is interest, consider the Carrion Crows as a charter corporation.

I don't know if you read or like science fiction, but there is an author who wrote a great series called The Hammer Slammers about a mercenary company and the overarching system in which it functioned. I could describe it but it would be pages of explanations(might be a wiki about it though) and it's just more fun to actually read the books. The awesome thing about me being lazy is that the publisher releases all its books under a GNU type licence and they're free to download and share. The books are here: http://baencd.thefifthimperium.com/ just look for the Slammers books.

I think the system written about in the series would work well for dealing with Mercenary Companies in MWO and it would be really interesting to see it setup.

I wish to know more who are your groups that have shown interest, what are their sizes, do you have an invasion plan for periphery planet? I'm just curious.

I don't want to reveal who they are in this thread for their own privacy, but if you pm'd me we could talk more in detail. The groups that have shown interest are generally small-mid sized, though we do have one that I would consider a "megacorp" that has shown interest.

Otherwise, no invasion plans; I don't think there is enough information yet to form anything solid. My idea right now is more along the lines of protection pacts and collaboration in reaching shared goals

Define 'ruin the game'? Seems objective. What are you feelings around that issue?

Do you play for the purpose of making others rage? Do you believe that winning is a privilege that only certain people should have? Do you try to get less skilled players to leave because they arent "hardcore" enough? Basically, are you an obnoxious elitist who thinks because he spent money means he can act however he wants?

Hopefully that answers your question. We believe in Fun, friends, helping those less skilled and using stompy robots to kill people. If you think thats wrong, see you Dirtside.

Yes, I think that answers my question, and I appreciate the time you took to outline DHB's perspective. Thanks.

Part of the alliance is setting up a community of mature players so we always have nice people to play with. Being a F2P game, you can expect that you will have gamers of all different types, including some unsavory ones.

Do you mean out of this alliance, or in general?

Interesting concept.

As a unit who is trying to uphold the traditions of the star league having friends could be useful. I agree with the members of DHB as we have similar values.

Could be a useful source of common intel on undesirables in the game.

I'll point my fellows in the direction of this post and get back to you.
