Other. Let us unlock/buy various voice packs but have a standard female or male default (player choice). This way you can keep adding voice packs in the shop if they prove to be popular (and worth the time to contract more VAs or popular people).

We learned a lesson about this a long time ago at EA after spending a LARGE amount of cash recording VO... celebrity voices don't carry the impact that some people think they do. Accents/fun/funny stuff is worth it.

A couple of standards for each faction (various voice actors). Even using slightly different words and phrases.

Also means if you're piloting a captured mech you're stuck with whatever it had until an engineer can change it for you.

If the phrases are triggered from a local database kept with the mech there shouldn't be any added game overhead.

Various voices - my vote is also for the mech voice to be representative of the faction, most notably having distinct accent inflections.
Clans (eventually) I sort of imagine having a more generic voice, more synthasised.
Perhaps one of the options for merc units could be that the commander gets to designate the unit's voice choice from a set of choices.

I'm with Pink Thunder on the matter of celebrity voices. If you're trying to sell a game then it can be a selling point. If a notable actor has a specific sound that you want then that's also fine but generally there's plenty of 'affordable' voice actors out there who can do a perfectly good Samuel L Jackson, etc.

Quit now and the Cake will be served immediately.

... your own computer trying to tell you to quit and kill your self every time you do friendly fire would be great :)

I would agree with the cash shop aspect of this feature actually. Considering it is a 100% PURELY aesthetic thing, having a default voice and the ability to purchase other voices from the cash shop (to use throughout the entire account on any mech) would definitely be something I support.

Giving a male and female basic voice would be recommended, and then variations in the cash shop to let your computer sound different ways. My suggestions for the free basic and 2 cash shop variants are listed below.

Voices could include Free Basic Starters
-Female Computerized (Default)
-Male Computerized

Cash Shop
-Female Natural | More natural voice with less of a computerized feel to it.
-Male Natural | More natural voice with less of a computerized feel to it.
-Female Cold (Clan) | A harsher, more militaristic sounding voice.
-Male Cold (Clan) | A harsher, more militaristic sounding voice.

A very detailed list of notifications I can enable and disable would simply be worlds more useful than any fancy voice work or writing that the devs may come up with.

In essence, when it's time to tell *******' Betty to shut up, he damn well better shut up!

Just a random passing thought after reading this. Personally I think it would be awesome if you could select the voice (and maybe have voice packs down the road as content to buy for the game)... But maybe PGI could even run a contest for us where we get to submit our own voice overs and top 3 voices make it in the game (assuming the quality is high enough). I'm sure there have got to be a few of us that can put out high quality voice overs and have fun while doing it! I know I'm game :). My theater teacher would be proud!

The sort of information MW2 always gave you was one of my favorite parts. I hated not getting that info from the MW4 startups, especially the local heat index...that was my FAVORITE part. xD

How about having voice be determined by mech manufacturer? Each mech producing company would have its own standard voice for its mech.

You mean something like Airplane captains? :)

- Core startup inicialized. Please make sure your seatbelts are fasten up and stop using any devices that could interfere with onboard electronics, if you have any questions ask the steward assistant console to your right. Your Mech startup procedure and console commands can be found on console to your left. Please do not touch the joysticks until you are allowed to do so.

- All systems nominal, we have a sunny weather with temperatures around 26 degrees of Celsia.

- You are allowed to take the control now of your mech...

Ps. Missiles are incomming, have a nice day.

The one thing i absolutely love is hearing her talk.

My opinion about the computer chick is I need to hear more detail about alerting of enemy mechs or even strategic points on the map. They should really allow different variants of computer voices of male & female. Maybe including sexy to affirmative voices or even laid back.

they should have option to disable computer dialogue or increase the data explained to you..

for example "enemy mech detected at 700metres"

Then if you get a visaul sighting of the mech. The mech design & tonnage will be voiced.

what are your opinions besides having Arnold Scwarzenegger voice screaming at you ?

The lady who did the MW2 computer voice [don't recall her name, but she's on imdb] said she would like to do the computer voice again in any new mechwarrior game. That was back when MW3015 was supposed to be a SP game. But I bet she wouldn't care if the project is different somewhat. I loved the computer voice in MW2. Not so much the 3rd one, and the 4th well the less we say about it the better.

I'm still thinking a variety of "voice packs" for the game as a "cash shop" item has a huge money-making potential for PGI. That includes, but is not exclusively tied to the computer voice. And it's a part where both the customers get the "I want!" urge and at the same time it offers no real repercussions for the actual gameplay and balancing. Win-win situation, I'd say. :)

Might not be so bad to have "voice-packs" in the shop. But you know some people are just going to bitch and moan about having to pay money for a game. Not everything can be free people!!!!!
