Started working on a Clint today. Pictures to come.

To my fellow painters I would like to recommend the wonderful substance "Simple Green". When you develop your painting skills and a while from now frown at your early attempts, wouldn't you like a second chance? :o Simple Green removes paint from metal and plastic minis quick and without the noxious fumes that makes it so hard to read the time tables for the tram. In Sweden the product is called Decorima Färglösare (they should pay me for writing this post :D).

Get a bottle. You won't regret it. Practice makes perfect, but minis are expensive.

I can not decide what to paint next....
Banshee, Hermes II, Whithworth, Quickdraw or Panther.

Here's the clint I'm working on. Not entirely satisfied with the highlights on the darker green areas. Might have to fix them.

Try a very light yellow drybrush. Works well to highlight green.

I can't do that unfortunately. The detail on those old minis is too shallow. I don't know what they were thinking when they made the molds. Also it's painted in two different greens and it would remove that effect if I highlighted the whole mini in the same colour. :/ I need to find a better shade to highlight the dark green fields with. I think that will be the best sollution. Of course it wouldn't hurt if I got some new brushes too, instead of those old ruined ones I use now. :(

Another good substance to use is Pine-sol. I've stripped plenty of mechs, and I've noticed Pine-sol to be a bit quicker.

EDIT:

Also, I plan on keeping my very first attempt (a plastic commando, which is probably the worst paint job anybody has ever seen) as a statue to my progression.

I actually put one of those Summoners together today. That's pretty cool. Love the paint job. What an excellent coincidence.

On a somewhat unrelated subject, I've never understood the naming convention of the Summoner. As a light mech pilot, that's seen more as a "TIME-TO-GET-THE-HELL-OUT-OF-HERE....er"

Love the Thor. I am always surprised how well it does even when facing larger mechs.

The Thor/Loki in the new set are really nice. Put the two I got into my Ghost Bear ranks.

Problem with generational painting is paints dry out, and are no longer sold to be replaced.
So matching the colors does not always work out as you can see from the image above.
However you can see how your painting skills have improved over time. :P

Here are my first 4 lances ive painted. they're from the 25th anniversary box set and were painted with Games Workshop paint.

http://imgur.com/Mq9q6

THE BLACK ADDERS
A light lance that also does raiding missions. Bitter rivals with the Red Xs because they trampled the Black Adder headquarters on accident. Also called the Blood Adders sometimes for no reason. Black and red color scheme. (Black primer + Blood Red)

http://imgur.com/kBItB

THE RED Xs (pronounced exes)

A light lance that also does recon and raiding missions, much like the Black Adders. Very capable in pitched battles as well. Bitter rivals with the Black Adders. White with red X pattern and blue cockpits. (Skull White, Blood Red, and Enchanted Blue)

http://imgur.com/R9ect

THE CRIMSON CORSAIRS

Good in both long range and short range, the Crimson Corsairs earned their name from the fact that they used to be pirates. Composed of heavy and assault mechs. Silver with crimson highlights and green cockpits. (Mithril Silver, Blood Red mixed with Chaos Black, and Camo Green.)

http://imgur.com/SR3oo

THE STEINER RECON BATTALION

They aren't from Lyran space and they don't do recon. OK, they do it sometimes. Anyway, they are named after the fact that House Steiner uses Assault mechs to scout the enemy. Green camouflage with silver highlights, some brown, (its supposed to be dirt) and red cockpits. The camouflage is painted on to help them be as sneaky as assault mechs can be. and no, they have not successfully snuck up on anyone. They would make horrible assassins/spies. (Catachan Green, Camo Green, Mithril Silver, and Blood red.)

Nice work. Though try to thin the paint just a little more, and/or apply the paint in thinner layers. That way you'll retain all the detail in the minis. Good luck.

I use imageshack.us you have to create an account and you have limited space, but works fine.

other sites exist like photobucket and such.

When you link to the picture in your post, first right click the image and choose "Copy image URL". Then in the post here on the forum you click the little icon with a picture of a tiny tree on it (the one that says "image" when you do a mouseover of it) and paste the URL there and voila.
