Lets start the Debate

I think having the lower profile and jump jets to get in and out of places to hide will be great you will always have people who get locked into the 2d mind frame and not look up to the little mech hiding on the 7th floor of building with its side blown out

non humanoid with jump jets.

= I can run and I'm likely lower profile than a humanoid design so I'm a little harder to hit still.

Raven is good and all, but lights without jets just feel wrong to me. Although, 8/12 or better does tend to make up for it a little bit.

Yeah, the good old raven.

But most important: Jump-jets and low profile(non-humanoid).
Run in, gather information or place a beacon on an enemy and jump behind cover.

Well given that we're supposedly in mostly cities, then yes jumping is the way to go. And even still it's harder to track an object moving in a jump arc than it is a running target, so if I need to evade fire I'll still prefer jumping tyvm.

The "holy crap!"s that it produces when it moved through open terrain is quite fun in table top. Makes those high movement numbers come to life. ^_^

Anybody feel like filtering out a list available scout mechs during this time period?

It seems like everybody is going to gravitate towards the Raven.

I would prefer a humannoid element such as a USMC scout sniper platoon, since thats what I know of, but with Mechs I want something that has SPEED, jumpjets and has the firepower in case it gets into a ooohhh **** scenario. Speaking of a desert or artic scenario with little to no cover and concealment I would hope to have some sort of cloaking device. I don't believe that will come out in launch but I can wish upon a star right ?

Well the firefly is low profile, has decent jumpjets, and three medium lasers and an antimissile system.

... If you can get your hands on one of course.

Though the cicada is decent too... just not quite as much offensive capability. and its bigger.

In all honesty, if I had to scout I would prefer to use a Nova if clan, if not, well, probably a Razorback. And, yes, I know Nova is not light, but it is def. my fav. scout like medium. Especially because it has the speed but packs enough of a punch to **** off the heavies and even assaults in a full fledged battle... The low profile is excellent as well...

Average speed with decent weapons and armor. Why? Because I'm a bloody Steiner pilot, that's why! You're lucky I'm not scouting in an ATLAS.

Most common mech of the time

Locust

1) Be cheap as chips to run
- there a reason why not everyone has all the cool toys, you may need to pay your dues
2) low tonnage / B V ( if that's a factor )
- taking lower tonnage here may mean you could take more somewhere else
3) there about 2000 active mechs of this design in service ( game time )

My recommended scout 'Mechs:
Inner Sphere: Locust, Valkyrie, Wolfhound, Phoenix Hawk (medium scout/command 'Mech FTW!)
Clan: Fire Falcon, Locust IIC, Hellion, Incubus

As you can see, I have all of the categories in your poll on my list.

...and yes, the relevant 'Mechs should be the Project Phoenix versions to avoid legal issues. The re-designs look better anyway.
