*roleplay off* She was one of the greatest Stainer leaders of all times. Maybe only her daughter Melissa is better. My first affiliation was Stainer, thanks to Kell Hounds and Katrina... and Gray Death. *roleplay on*

Archon Katrina Steiner ruled the Lyran Commonwealth following a coup in 3007 until she abdicated in 3039 in favor of her successor, Melissa Steiner. She is most often remembered for her tenacity and sheer willpower. This served her well throughout her life, from becoming a Mechwarrior despite a sickly childhood, to engineering the overthrow of Archon Alessandro Steiner in her rise to power. But by far Katrina's greatest achievement was in the advancement of peace in the Inner Sphere. Though her dream of ending the Succession Wars diplomatically was mocked by other leaders, it found a believer in First Prince Hanse Davion. Their discussions would eventually lead to the signing of the FedCom Accords in 3020, the marriage of Katrina's daughter Melissa to Hanse, and the formation of the Federated Commonwealth, the largest and most powerful nation in the Inner Sphere.

And who cares? She saw a proper scout squad and got heart attack from it, nothing special over at Steiner. :P

Do not laugh. Not that i care much about a steiner regent, but 4 atlas in formation is always impressive.

(OOC) Of all of the Inner Sphere leaders, she was the only one I actually ever loved, in a real-world, Mother-Son fashion (Yeah, I have issues, shut up, hehe). Melissa was a beloved leader, meant to be Princess Diana's BattleTech counterpart, but she wasn't a real leader in the same sense as Katrina. What's funny is, her Granddaughter, Katherine, is my most-hated character in that universe, because she deigned to take on the name Katrina, after her Grandmother, and she is just the most manipulative, crappy wanna-be-leader, second only to Sun Tzu Liao. Do not presume to speak for all of us, sir. For all of the issues I have with the FedCom integration, to say nothing of that cluster-malf in '34, the fact remains that under Katrina, we managed our first net gain of worlds since the fall of the Star League, the LCAF underwent sorely-needed reforms, and thanks to having a few more worlds between it and the DCMS, my homeworld of Alexandria is finally starting to show some signs of recovery after being smacked like a pinata during the Succession Wars.

For my part, I miss her, and I pray Melissa proves to be half the Archon her mother was.

Heh. Actually, one of the reforms she pushed through was the creation of a "Lightning Company" within each LCAF 'Mech regiment.

Yes, well, the threat of beatings is sometimes far and away a better means of control over those who would make themselves slaves... and, yea, look at North Korea, man, and tell me I'm wrong, hehe.

My character "William Kerrigan" was part of Katrinas Royal Guard and acted as her daughter Nondis personal liason. Therefore this article makes me sad, Katrina was an intelligent, driven, and beautiful leader. Her presence is missed. ;(

Did a good number of dealings with the Steiner House. Good folk all. And honest buyers for when they needed a gun or two. Her passing is a scar that any honest pilot will bear with pride and reverence. And doubly so for those of us that worked for her House and kin

As far as the Mercs corp goes. We dont care who rules, leads, lives or dies. As long as we get paid before the contractor dies.
We live for fame, glory, battle, and of course creds. ;)
