Will we be able to play this game on a Mac? Or is it only Windows users that will be able to play?
Thanks!

They haven't mentioned anything about that yet.

I'm starting Drafting School this year so that i can be employable when it comes to making mechanical blueprints via CAD programs and I was originally saving up money to update or replace my Microsoft gaming PC so that it can handle a CryEngine3 based game on max settings but i have learned through a Drafting instructor that apple desktops are more suited for the tast of drafting and recomended i put my money into a decent apple desktop to enhance my ability to learn when i start classes...so after doing some reaserch into apple computers(never used one) i've been hearing 'rumors' that i can infect an apple with Microsoft Windows 7 as an operating system that i can use on the side like one can with lynix on a Mircrosoft based desktop...Is this rumor true? If so would i be able to play MWO on an apple computer?

If i can that would be great because as much of a BT fan as i am if i can't i'll end up blowing money on two different PCs: One for MWO and the other for drafting school, lol. When it comes to hardware/software i already know what i need to run MWO on max settings. I just need to know if i can run MWO on an apple.

I just saw that Mason Grimm Locked a thread with questions posed by someone who will be getting a mac PC and wants to run mechwarrior on it. I feel that his specific questions were not answered in the FAQ since he wanted to know about emulators and Virtual Machines (at least thats what it seemed like to me) which has not been touched on yet to my knowledge (he wasnt asking f it was coming out for OSX he just wanted to know if there was a way around that issue). In resonse to that question, yes there are many ways to run windows programs and games on your Mac and I think it would be great to have a thread (although it prolly should be in the off topic section since there isnt a tech section) to help Apple users find out how they can still get in on some sweet giant robot action. Mods if I am out of line just let me know and I will take down the post.

the SEARCH feature is your friend....

Searching for MACINTOSH I found the following thread in which the developers address the issue...

http://mwomercs.com/...__fromsearch__1

I could also search for APPLE (yielding far too many results) and any other number of things to find the answers I was looking for.

Thx man! I was about to make another post stating pretty much what you said. I actually got the the rumor of running Win 7 on a Mac from a guy who showed me how he's able to "dual boot" his PC that is currently running Vista and Linyx. Actually the part of the FAQ section that states that it's exclusively for PC is what got me thinking because i'd hate to purchase TWO computers this year for drafting and for MWO when i can just get one that does both. I'm just trying to find a way to improvise and even though i can go to ask.com, my experience with the MechWarrior/BT fan community is that i tend to get better tech advise from BT fans than i do via ask.com/google/etc.

Buy a PC ;)

Just kidding, you are correct, it is going to be quite hard for us as end users to actually answer any of these questions, even in an off topic thread, as we will just not have the answers. The Dev's need to answer, and only them, we can speculate how an emulator, or say Boot camp, parallels version would react, but without the code for us to examine, this would be an excercise in futility and would be simply all speculation on our part. I'm going to assume it will be viable at least in a windows environment on a mac, but I have had issues in the past with other applications, not all apps work well in an otherworldly environment. I think Pirranah is smart enough to know that there are enough mac users to make sure this works come release time, it would be silly to think otherwise, they seem to be taking their time and doing much of this very right, I hope they understand that at between 10-15% of on line computer users are Mac now, and growing.....

hey sorry about that. I thought you was referring to google or something. I've only been aware of this site for less than a week and just noticed the ''search'' option. I've been browsing through threads via "pages" of thread topics instead of the search. I guess that's what i get for being a noob to this site. Again, sorry about that.

No worries DR I would also suggest looking into a Hackintosh which is when you build a PC to the same spec as a Mac but it can dual boot windows 7 and OSX no problem. It would really be the best of both worlds for people who need a mac for work but want to game on PC. Grimm I was looking for more of a thread for MAC owners to discuss options and or way to run game on their mac in general as obviously we cant know how MWO will work on them yet. Sorry for any misunderstandings on my end.

(combined all three MAC related threads and moved to OFF TOPIC - Since there is no Hardware forum = TRUE)

As an alternative solution; we could just have a Hardware/Tech forum get made ;) (pretty please?)

Place that suggestion in the appropriate box for Dev attention. You may get "When we release technical requirements for the game we will place a Hardware Tech forum section for people to discuss. Until then it's all speculation"... or something but it never hurts to suggest it ;)

If you have a NEWER crApple, then you should be able to install windumb on it without problem . .
As long as there's an intel Core2 or intel i whatever CPU in there, it should work without trouble . .

At least I reserved my pilot name, just in case they decide to come to Mac or PS3 after it's not popular on PC anymore. I'll be pouting in the corner, if you need me.

That's what you get for buying a mac in the first place! I mean sheesh!

No but seriously, I hope they release it for mac for you or you get a PC soon.

You can dual-boot (don't try any virtual machine nonsense; it won't work for a 3D game), but you'll be out the cost of a Windows license (get a $100 OEM copy; don't bother with the $200 retain copy), and then you'll switching back, you'll be switching fourth... :P

You see, if you had a PC, you'd just install it and play, because PCs just work! :P
