A- wow, thats great! Did you draw the whole image or just color it?

B-With the stated emphasis on urban combat environments/using cover in combat and what we know about the pilot/mech skill trees it would be one of the worst mistakes they could make to not include this! Imagine having to turn every corner knowing there could be a hatchet blade the size of a smartcar waiting to crash through your canopy!

C- I never actually played TT, so what is that axe actually capable of? Can it smash in a cockpit potentially? Take limbs clean off? Is the arm capable of full articulation, like can it swing sideways and stuff? I normally really dislike more articulate/humanoid mech designs but i remember seeing the cartoon a few times when I was a kid and just being smitten by this guy.

Crazy, I thought this thread disappeared. Guess I better get to making variants after all then! But yes to A, I painted the Axman (over FD's backdrop) and agreed with B, the 2N having the LRMs was also capable of some support roles as well but the 1N is more like a hunchy with a club. As for C, as pointed out the hatchet even at that size wasn't likely to chop limbs off, but the damage was enough to crush a mech's head in one hit. Nice if you like to bring back salvage that someone else gets to clean up!

What do I think of your Axeman?...

Of course his name is Tony.

Tiger Stripes make everything cool. Everything.

I really love the Axman, and this one looks even better.

Any chance a modeler wants to try and make a low poly model of this Axman ?

I want to try and make a paper model of this :)

Fun fact I actually had part of a model for this (earlier version of) at one point...not sure where it went off to, but it wasn't by any means finished anyway.

Hrhr...nice image, BLaaR!
I really like the long head of the AXM-1N. Would love to see what FD could do with the AXM.

Kinda sorta like this?

Been sitting on this one but of course I had to try. Went black instead of green, though I do like how that mini is done with the green.

With the talk of possible melee I got the urge to paint this, partly for some concept practice. The Axman 2N was always one of my big favorites for some reason. I guess mostly because that hatchet to the face was rather leathal in Battletech. Maybe it had something to do with the cartoon... well either way.

Of course the background done by Flying Debris. The Axeman based partly on a design I did last year.

le sigh.

Did we cover this issue a few pages ago? These are essentially clubs, not actually axes.

Wish I could draw this good... is it possible to see another variant of the Axman? Like the 2N style but missing the left missile launcher, the one you see on many pictures, but for some reason has no listed variant?

Thats not a LRM launcher in that TRO pic, thats actually a multi barreled class 20 Auto Cannon of the standard model.

... not sure if serious... that'd be the first multi barreledautocannon i've ever seen. don't even know the point of a multibarrel gun like that.

Your talking the same Axman as the one in your sig, right? Then yes, thats a AC20 with some artistic license taken to explain the huge borr size on the mech.

Yes. According to the fluff on autocannons, the rating is just a measure of damage output from the gun, not necessarily the size of the bullet fired.

As for the Axman pic... I love it. Is it possible to get a Hatchetman version?

Well, that's kind of a letdown... it looks better with a missile launcher there.

All my years playing MW I always wanted to see melee. Of some type atleast. I know that if you make a 35+Ton walking tank fling a 5/6 ton Limb at another mech, and it makes contact, Itll do some damage. And itll keep a lot of the smaller mechs away from a heavy for fear of it lashing out and toppling it. Axeman FTW!!!

Honestly, I think the LRM looking AC is what inspired the 2N. Soimeone actually decided to replace the AC20 with a LRM after seeing the art, crunch the nubers and found out you can fit 2X LRM 15s in its place.
(I thought it was a LRM myself when I fist saw it in the TRO but this was after watching Adam Stinier in his 2N)

My current mech in my table top game is a mod 2N the replaced the twin LRMs with two PPC's. There is so much you can do with that chassis, I'm surprise that we havent seen more variants up till now.
