Honestly, I think the LRM looking AC is what inspired the 2N. Soimeone actually decided to replace the AC20 with a LRM after seeing the art, crunch the nubers and found out you can fit 2X LRM 15s in its place.
(I thought it was a LRM myself when I fist saw it in the TRO but this was after watching Adam Stinier in his 2N)

My current mech in my table top game is a mod 2N the replaced the twin LRMs with two PPC's. There is so much you can do with that chassis, I'm surprise that we havent seen more variants up till now.

That picture is what inspired my own variant. taking one LRM launcher off the 2N model, and dropping the 15 launcher with a 10 launcher equipped with an Artemis FCS. Then the large pulse laser is replaced with an ER PPC. Then I switch out the 260XL for the 325XL for better speed, and swapping the heat sinks for the doubles, along with a few other modifications. Expensive, but incredibly effective.

I like the drawing, but why is the ax not sharp?

Nice. I too dream of the day when we have a MW game with melee combat.

Well I do Combat Robotics (robot wars) you find that most of the robots that use axes dont have very sharp edges as these will lose there edge very fast. Its all about the transfer of energy into the opponent so a heavy slightly blunt axe transfers more energy for a longer period of time in a fight.

Inner Sphere law, such as it was, could be best summed up by the seminal case of "Karyudo's Axe vs. Anhell's Cockpit."

Give me an Axeman anyday! Destroy my opponents with a close ranged bash of that hatchet about 20 or 50 times. Just for good measure. Can't be too safe. And with a hatchet like that, you really need to make those peaces of your opponents chassis fly. Wonderful, Wonderful!!! Now, just imagine being the pilot of the opposing mech. Watching in horror as that hatchet comes bearing down at your cockpit. Nothing like a butt load of fear to make you eject some excrement!

This is why we have hand actuators.

Prefer a sword to an axe though. Tis uncivilized.

50 times is for the people simply to lazy to smash their opponents 100 times. If you're guna go, go all out :P

But...smashy smashy?

Actually I likes the naginta over the sword. Slightly more civilized and heavy enough to place things in high levels of harm.

On a side note I don't see this posted here so...

Was actually just looking to see what models I had sitting around and found I actually still had this one. Not the same version, more based on the older FASA artwork a bit. ;)

Ok so like, I love this redesign and Im building a plastic model of it for myself and I was wondering if there might be a rear view that you drew? Im having trouble interpreting the back.

I didn't make any but I was thinking of a sort of spine located/shaped like backpack protrusion flanked with the jump-jets about half way up. I was thinking of starting a 3D version for a fun mini project so I might actually draw it up.

Interested in seeing the plastic model though, feel free to post it.

Hi all, just like to post the little work Ive done on a plastic build of this Axeman.
Coming along on the torso.

Heres my attempt at the rear jump jets

Posted Image

Here you can see the thrusters tucked in for thrust direction.
Posted Image

Im thinking I need to rework the missile exhaust vents a little. These arent doing it for me. What say you?

Definitely cool! ;)

Though, I do believe that, like both the original AXM-1N and the older HTC-3F Hatchetman, all of the AXM-2N's Jump Jets are located in the legs (with the arrangement being 2 JJs in the LL and 2 JJs in the RL for both the AXM-1N and the HTC-3F).

As for the missile exhaust vents... what about something like the backs of the MW4 Longbow's or MW4 Owens' arms?

I like the style there on the Longbow. Ill go back and tweek it.
I was planning on Jump jets in the feet as well its just the back needed something dramatic and JJ's just seems to fit the bill.

I was thinking dual jets on the back but yeah I guess they are in the legs... though leg only seems like it would be unstable to me so that was why I had them up there. That and the mini's back looks so plain.

As far as the exhaust goes I had a similar design to the longbow but facing straight down. I do like the semi-outward look. That also works.
