I am of the opinion that the correct plural form of Atlas is Atlas

But really? I mean.....really? Are we still talking about this? Use what you feel comfortable with and **** anyone else!!

I believe the correct pluralization of the word "Atlas" is actually: PUGs

Not sure how such a stupid argument started in the first place. It is Atlases, and any argument to the contrary is being done so by trolls.

I think Atlas is a singular without a plural. There are oddities like that out there.

I normally stay out of these grammatical debates, but I'll chime my bell and see how it rings.

I have always and will continue to refer to more than one Atlas as a group of Atlas.
"4 Atlas incoming @ E4"
For example.

OK i know that this is a little off topic but hear me out.

While the argument for collective nouns is all great fun, the truth of the matter is that in a battle situation (which is why we are all here) you would be better off advising of the gravity of an enemies deployment by advising your lance mates of the total tonnage as an estimate. so...

Rather than announcing that you have stumbled upon 3 Atlases (Atili) (Attleprattles etc) two sunders and a Mad cat. You might instead say that you have located a 500 Tone mech displacement, consisting of 6 mechs? This would give you a rough order of magnitude and allow you to formulate an appropriate response and no one would ever have to worry about what the names of all the mech actually were.

Just to point out to you trolls but when referring to the plural of Road Atlas, as in road maps, the proper term is Atlases. Now, while the meaning may be completely different, the spelling and pronunciation are exactly the same, so it stands to reason that multiple of Atlas, the 100 ton mech, would still be Atlases.

Regardless, most of the time the plural isn't used even when multiple Atlases are present, because it's just easier and more informative to state the number present as in "3 Atlas inbound." rather than worry about proper sentence grammar or spelling.
