EDIT: Cerberus Garde. This was a request. Their motto is "From Hell, into Hell and back!" ...which may be the most awesome motto I've ever heard.

"The HEAD, prime the HEAD, I'm going blind!!!!" Good work, CB... those are some very nice colors, until I get to the head, and I find myself wanting to claw my own eyes out. That's not a slight against your art, but a compliment to you for making something that will distract on the battlefield. hehe (two thumbs up) :P

I'll have to get some specially designed shades, I think. ^_^

Blah, so, I tried out GIMP since Photoshop 7 constantly crashes on me. Got the arms/back of a Jenner done following Hayden's advice from page 6... How do you manage to not have jaggies or it look like junk as you try to pick out all the little black lines? Had to turn my mouse DPI way down (kept overshooting), and my hand and head now hurt. :P

This is worse than painting miniatures was back in the day!

You know what would be awesome? An Atlas painted in a light brown, with Jayne's Hat painted on the head, and some script somewhere that says: "Man pilots a mech with that painted on it, people know he's not afraid of anything."

BTW, I like your work over at CamoSpecs. Awesome stuff there.

Thanks. I've been a bit burned out since GenCon, but I'm startin' to get the itch again.
Hopefully I'll get some new stuff up soon.

A Clan Wolverine theme would be awesome. Or a Ables Ace's paint since they are the only merc group I would join if i was not to play as a Wolverine. Theres also someone else out there that likes them to since i saw the Sphere survey.

Wish I could do it my self but I have no clue how you are repainting these pictures.

I have a suggestion and a future request for you Hayden;
Suggestion: Any mech dressed up as a UPS "Brown" 'mech xD

Future Request: The next concept art assault mech to be released done as Storm's Metal Thunder. (In a variation of the canon scheme; add some pronged lightning strike from the torso->leg on top of the dark blue +#27 on the left knee/thigh)

If it takes a while for them to release a new 'mech I will just remind whenever it comes out.

Cheers
/Damo

The head's bright red because I was trying to adapt the paintjob from the Megas XLR cartoon. I could probably have lightened up on that, actually. As it is, I got to preserve the rectangular shape of the car sitting on top of the body, so that's at least something.

Maybe I'll go back ALREADY WENT BACK AND and addED a vintage car on top of the atlas later for kicks.

The trick is to use a few layer masks on top of the art. My setup has the mech masked out, and two layers of white. The first with the blending mode set to soft light, the second to color, and then I do all the coloring on a third layer on top (also masked) set to multiply.

I think I just made want to make that those US postal/Fedex/ UPS mechs next.

Hmmm, that's what I was doing, but I was picking out the detail lines (so they weren't covered by my soft light and multiply layer) instead of just covering the whole mech (minus cockpit, whatever). Does the multiply keep the dark detail lines dark? I didn't want to lose that definition. if I don't have to go out and mask out each itty-bitty section, that'd save me such hassle.

You can just mask right over everything. The different blending modes do weird things to the transparency affects.

I can't bear to be awake any longer, but when I wake up I still need to mask one of them. And if they release another one I'll have to do it, so I'll record my process and post it on youtube.

CB, please post a link here when you do? What I have, thus, been unable to learn by reading, perhaps I can learn by seeing.

Here is the Dragon's Breath Merc Unit. Thanks to Hayden for this old school Unit Insignia I used.

Per CamoSpecs.com
Dragon's Breath: Playing With Fire - The unit's colors are navy blue and white, with gold accents and silver across the shoulders.

I took a stab at this, I cleaned up a White Dragon and elongated the lower legs because they just seem too stumpy to me. Anyway, I'm happy with how it came out and I placed it in a nice wallpaper for those who may want to use it.Enjoy
