Well, at this time the Federated Suns and Lyran Alliance are (sorta) the Federated Commonwealth.

Well, Arnold, technically you're correct; but, in truth you're wrong. In 3028, Hanse Davion married Melissa Arthur Steiner-Davion and 'handed her the Capellan Confederation' on a plate, while Suns forces invaded Liao. The actual Federated Commonwealth was neither joined, nor recognized, until 3056 and, two years after that, was disbanded.

Still, during 26 years in the universe, the FedCom ideals grew in strength, only actually beginning to fall apart with the murder of Melissa. I know, during my tabletop play time, I always counted them as the FedCom, myself.

Nice, two Liao mechs. :P

They are nice and all, BUT why on Earthh do you put that scheme on an Atlas?! :D

Well Ad... I have not found any new MW:O templates for an Emperor, a Raven, a Yu Huang, a Duang Gung, a Sha Yu or a Lao Hu yet... Pity because some of the Capellan designs are pretty cool. Since I saw a couple of Atlas miniatures for Capellans on the Camospecs site (in the Tau and Death Commandos section I think) I figured why not! Granted I could have done a Catapult but did a few already... Unless of course you place an order for a custom repaint job!

Nevertheless, really nice work! Even if you failed as a historian, you're a helluva painter!

Lol! History is a relative term considered this is a fictional future we are talking about. Yet I am a failing BT lore novice (goes out to hide in shame.)

Hey, Ironhawk, 'lovely' Hunchback, as usual.
If you'd allow me comment on 'Mechs inscriptions you do over some 'Mechs (I'm speaking about Tikhonov 1st Republican Atlas). Tikhonov Republic has legacy of Soviet Union in BT universe AFAIK. So, if you are interested in some comment on what to inscribe, here you are:
There was no tradition in Soviet army to inscribe simple words like 'власть', 'прочность' over armored vehicles, instead, personalized tanks and armored columns wore names of organizations bought vehicles or names given by grantors in memorial of someone/something.
Here are some examples:
personalized soviet tanks during WW II

I think you'll like that ('Беспощадный' - Ruthless / Merciless):
http://tankfront.ru/...poshadny-03.jpg

soviet personalized armored columns during WW II
I grant you, that you could bring lot of 'lulz' for russian MWO community by creating Atlas belonging to 'Челябинские колхозники' lance of Tikhonov 1st Republican :P
http://tankfront.ru/...olhozniki-2.jpg

P.S. Just take my post as attempt to spent time while waiting for MWO release))

On your PS... i sooooo understand what you mean by that.

Thanks for these comments; that IS constructive criticism, which so important for us to improve on our craft's attention to cultural credibility. Relating to traditions (to some degree) is key.

Nice job

But Tikonov at this time is part of the Federated Suns, Not the Lyran Alliance . As its a former Capellan world it could never be part of the Steiner domain UNLESS of course they happened to invade the Davion worlds taking Terra onthe way through :D

But very nicely done none the less.

Reference to Lyran removed from repaint intro to avoid debate. ^_^

I guess you're refering to the sentence : "By the terms of the F-C Alliance Document, the Federated Commonwealth would officially come into being when Melissa and Hanse both stepped down as heads of their respective states, allowing Victor to assume power over both realms." ("20 Year Update"-SB (FASA #1639)
In that case your right!
But this could also bee seen as mere cosmetical, as both nations shared the same political goals (even if "Good Ol' Hanse" didn't share the them really, but he had to for don't have to take detriments in private *) and the military of them merged in "early 3041" (AFFC High Command accepted control of the two militaries) and "in late 3042, the last vestiges of the LCAF and AFFS were discarded". With the exchange of officers and cadets serving in the same regiments, the AFFC had become the only one military unstead of two. Even if some attitudes of several soldiers stayed "pro-Steiner" and "pro-Davion". (which strongly supported eruption of the FedCom Civil War).

(*) Hanse: "I'll send troops to invade the Capellan Confederation to erase it from the map once and forever, and none will stop me doing that! Your shopping tour will have to wait! What did you mean by I have to sleep on the couch tonight?" Ummm. okay, it was just an idea, you know?" ;)

Beloved online friends,

This has been a great experience so far, exceeding the wildest expectations of the guy this side of the keyboard. Unfortunately, enemy forces have bombarded Ironhawk's Design & Paintshop. Reconstruction will take awhile and production will slow down dramatically.

In real life terms, I am going to be super busy for the next month or two. I am going to come back from time to time to read the threads, look at mind-blowing repaints from my peers and perhaps even write a bit, but I doubt design and repaints will be possible.

Please treat Urbie with a little respect while Daddy's gone.

Hope you're able to come back soon, Ironhawk. Gonna miss all your artwork and enthusiasm around here, but I know how RL gets in the way sometimes.

Here's my latest effort, a Centurion repainted as a Solaris gladiator. Totally fictional, non-canon color scheme here. I need to figure out how to make an arena background. Tips and feedback are always welcome. Next project is an Urbie repaint.

Thanks for the mech Ironhawk. :)

And don't forget about us while you're busy saving the world in the Super Urbie in the "real" life (I don't like the term so much, it makes you think people you're chatting with aren't real). ;)

Back to regular programming.

#1 - Do some of you remember Swift?

This is the 'Mech she'd be piloting...

Posted Image

#2: EDIT - FD Atlas template updated and altered to accommodate for insignia on the legs. An additional Capellan 'Mech (friend Thunderbird tells me I have to stop painting the bad guys...) This time, from House Rakshasa; I wanted to paint that 'Mech since I redid their insignia (what, you haven't seen Hayden's other great thread re:Insiginas??) Anywho, they are not well known and their House was destroyed circa 3075, but they got this coolest insignia design (not mine - I just redid it and colored it.) You can consult the original paint job and camo specs here. Enjoy!

Posted Image

#3: EDIT - Adding another bad guy: a Tikhonov 1st Republican Atlas. Improved as per lxxxl's constructive comments. Also did a few corrections and touch-ups for a more accurate rendition. Note the custom lance insignia design.

Posted Image

#4 and last one for a while: another House Rakshasa 'Mech. This time a Catapult, dedicated to Adridos. ;)

Love em!

Keep them coming. :)

Ironhawk, hope that everything goes well the next couple of months. I have been suprised there are no other repaints of the Urbie up yet (I have been ill the last week or so which has stopped me). I have been a bit disappointed that the devs have not released a tiny piece of art after you did such an ace job with the Urbie. As a result I have taken the Urbie out on Paul.

If you did not know Paul is DC fan, as a result the first mech done is from the WoB Opacus Venatori "Shadow Hunters". This is the group that captured Hohiro during the Jihad and left the DC a bit laking of Kurita (Theodore having had a stroke). They may even of accompished this in an Urbie?
Posted Image

The next mech is an Urbie in the scheme of the 1st Genyosha. It is the unit of Hohiro and Yorinaga Kurtia and was created as being the best of the best of the DC, as a result they should have an Urbie. The writing on its waist should read Warhammer (which is the mech that Yorinaga piloted) and the markings on the leg show that the pilot has 3 kills in this mech. Unfortunatly I am unable to sort any insignia out on the Genyosha.

More to come

If anyone has further suggestions for paint scheme please just let me know

There was one, I just put it in the Urbie thread instead of this one to keep this one for officially released mechs. ;)

Great job on the Urbies! I think the Shadowhunters color scheme is my favorite of the two. I'm off work for the next 2 days and hoping to get an urbie repaint done, but I work pretty slow.
