I think the washed out one gives a more accurate rendition in the MWO universe. Still Cool

Over-saturated, but not unappealing.

Like like like... One comment though, and I know you did it on purpose to put the skull on display, but the perspective angle makes it look like the viewer looks at the thing fro an Atlas cockpit. I love the B&W version. Nice touch.

My name is Ironhawk and I love this beastie... Allfex, I am now officially a fan of yours, Sir!

Hayden, pretty please with loads of sugar on top, make this copper secondary color a thing of reality in the game. That, and real joystick support by Paul and the crew, will get this MW4 vet back in my cockpit for some serious play time.

Thx allot!

I'm not a pro at these things but try my best. I do it because it's a hobby and i think when people are happy with these things we do, then that's the reason we do it for :)

Btw... the tex for the "Paydirt" is not ready yet...want to add some detail/ black lines on the hard edges and maybe scrabs here and there...atm it locks so clean.

If you wanted brighter yellow, you could've excluded the background. This way, it is a bit too heavy handed on saturation.

Haven't quite got used to it yet.. the background I figure I can change, was mostly just toying with the colors for the mech. I shoulda used my transparency backed Treb tho for sure.... gonna edit it and see if it comes out less garish.. Plus, that was a filter on Photobucket, which if it is selective, sure the heck makes GIMP look intuitive.

Bigger thing is trying to figure out how to add whites and blacks. That has me totally stumped so far.

Have you tryed the tool's under Colours>Auto>... to level the backround with the mech?

On the other side it's easyer (wich Adridos allready said) to ajust with different layers... that way you could try with Colour> Colour Balance to geht a brighter yellow.

All in one Layer you can try "Select by Colour Tool" but this isnt precice enough.

still working on understanding how layers even work.... when I hand draw and paint, can't say I think in such manner, so still adapting to the lingo.. Liking what I see so far from what it allows you to do once you DO figure it out though.

while I like the brighter yellow, I do think that the faded looks more "authentic".

Hm dont know exactly what you allready know about gimp but i can tell you how it start a new project to paint on.

1. start a new project (you see now white backround)
2. rightclick > Layer > New Layer ( Transparency )
3. delete the Backroundlayer (now you should have th Transparancy-layer alone)
4. rightclick > Layer > New Layer ( White or Background-color )
5. rightclick > Layer > New Layer ( Transparency ) and set this to active

Repeat the last step so often you want and paint for new details wich you want to ajust later on new tranparency-layers.

By now paint on the trans-layer, you can allways cut it from each other or hide backround by simple hiding layers.

You want now a duplicate from one detail without the background or other details... simple hide these you dont want and make a "new from visible".

Hope you understand my poor english -_-

With clean color's no problem by Colours > invert.

With "overpainted-colors" its not accurate...try select by colour toll > rightclick > select > "play with "feather" > rightclick > select > float > rightclick on the floating layer > to new layer > in this layer play with "colour-balance".

Haha...think i must learn english to explain better -_-

Hmmmm. Anyone ever post a clean, textured Trebuchet model, ready to paint in here?

Hey Bishop, I think this is what you want: http://www.deviantar...you-d54nty0.psd

I think gimp will open a psd.

*edit*

Unless you meant a 3D render.. in which case, I don't know.

Yea gimp will open it... it's easier also to understand how the process goes to get to the stage of painting (in terms of creating the multiple layers, http://youtu.be/WRU1W9A2Q9k ), because the .psd in gimp doesn't have the masking. But since the outline of the mech is already done (own layer) it's pretty simple to create the mask and then the appropriate layers you need.

Hey, nice new Siggy, Magik. So went Liao on us, eh?

Well, the file type unfortunately was incompatible with GIMP. So, not sure what to do. What I am trying to achieve is CLOSE to this, but the colors/texture came out a little too cartoony.

I can't get it to open, keeps going back online and using some Apple program, which won't let me manipulate it. (Or, just as likely, I can't figure out how to get it to)

I can probably get my .xcf file up somewhere for you to grab if you want Bishop, just drop me a PM if you want. In the mean time I'm thinking of visiting some idea of a blue ghost flame scheme as an experiment.

Here is your fresh off the line TrebuKermit Bishop, hope you like it.

Yours was the first major attempt by me to include highlights/glare. I believe it turned out pretty good on the highlights. Was going for a reptile style mouth on the cockpit area, make it a mean kermy

Frikking sweet. I had to take it and put my custom Maverik Industries spin on it, and make it into a TBT-3B Model, based largely off the Star League Original, with a 250XL engine, and EndoSteel and DHS. Got a few repaints/mods of it, so gonna post em all inline.......

the Key Lime Kommando

And a couple takes off the TrebuKermit:

Bushmasters with added Decals and Mech Mods
Posted Image

My "take" on it (as I beat my head against my desk trying to master GIMP) with a little "film graininess"
Posted Image

and a "final" cut, where I finished it in Soft Focus, cuz I thought it looked kinda neat, made me think of one of those super foggy mornings in the San Fran Bay Area, or London where everything had a slight hazy glow to it.....

What say you master mech manipulators?

Looks good Bishop. If you have anymore questions on GIMP just let me know.
Also, you might want to try sharpening the RA to try and reduce the pixel chop
