Ironhawk, have you ever tried to do a "very old mech" kind of repaint like this?

Posted Image

I wanted to do something like that myself, but as with just about any idea I got on a scheme, it became locked in the endless "find a unit, get repainting, stop halfway, look at it with critical eye and scrap it" loop and never really got off the ground. Nevermind my incomptenece with art (kinda lends itself well with my harsh criticism... you know, who knows does, who doesn't becomes a critic), I'd love to see a repaint like that and Victor happens to be a perfect fit being a mech from before the Star League times.

Who knows, you might even do your first repaint of a House Cameron mech.

Nice miniature! I did a Cicada repaint with lots of wear and tear (required long hours to get those effects) based on CSO Dak's excellent miniature paints on a pirate unit (Order of the Faithful) that recuperated Star League era Mechs. Though Dak himself liked it, your feedback was rather negative.

:D

Had to look it up myself, since I couldn't believe it at first... man, sorry for that one. I think I simply disliked the lack of colour, but mainly had a wholly different view on the Battletech as a whole having discovered it just 4 months prior. ;)
The irony of it all could be literally cut through.

Hey guys Im new to this thread, I was wondering if anyone still took requests for a repaint of the mech art. I just downloaded GIMP myself and I am trying to learn how to do it. Has anyone written are tutorial for GIMP also?? I would love to see a Victor in the colour scheme I created for my unit from the canon Raven Alliance.

hah! Sneaksy Capallen think we ain't watching you!!!! ;)

As for me, I prefer to do EVERYTHING with the weathered textures. If and when they ever get me my Internet hooked up properly I hope to start posting more stuff. Until then Adridos, feel free to practice battle damage, wear, weathering and all on a Victor-Bishop Steiner! :D

I have made one long ago. You could try it, altough Photoshop is just "better" for doing this.

Well, we'll see this thing much sooner than expected, so there might as well be some good camo for it (not that Lu Sann mechs look bad ).

The misuse of the word "literally" drives me figuratively insane.

Why is it that it feels like this QD from FD and repainted by Hayden is winking at my Lu Sann flea...?

It is repainted by Hayden? It looks very FD`s to me (he uses very pale colors for the painting).

My bad. I think you are right though the Lu Sann theme is pale by camo specs standards. Wishful thinking on my part because I miss the guy...

Well out of boredom I got to playing with the Victor Template from Ironhawk... playing with brushes and just messing around till I hit a gem. It's a take on a desert camo, so hope you enjoy!

Yeah, Alex does all the released concept art, though I still do "repaints" as part of my concepting process for skins.

looks fantastic. Saves me a lot of trouble too, now I just need to remove your decals, and swap in bands of light grey, some black and white specks and my own decals, and I will have my Soviet Victor.

Great work. Wish I was good at this, but hoping to finally have time to devote to trying!

Has anyone noticed how close the Quickdraw and the Cyclops are in body design? I have never been a fan of the Quickdraw till now. Once again FD has knocked it out of the ballpark. Just from an artistic standpoint, I'd love to see someone take the Quickdraw's upper body fixed to a larger set of legs and replace the 2 medium lasers in the right torso with a Gauss rifle or Auto Cannon and it would be a perfect Cyclops.
WAY TO GO FD, you are the man!!!
