And why nobody complained of the fact the Atlas concept art doesn't have a LRM20, but 2 LRM10s?

The 2 LRM 10's are actually 1 LRM 20 dived evenly on the torso, which made more sense the the original art which had a hip mouted 5-10 tube LRM launcher that fired multiple times. The Atlas II is the first Atlas to have a honest LRM 20 depicted in both the art and mini.

My first (and simplistic) attempt at a repaint. I love all the work you guys have done for unit colors etc, but this one was ment to be functional ingame ;)

I love that. Out of all the mechs, because of various things going on when it came out, the Awesome has gotten short shrift on repaints.

The original write up for the atlas years ago mentioned the LRM for the Atlas was unique in that it was a "Rotary" style missile launcher firing multiple missiles out of the same tubes...if I remember correctly.

My guess this was for ease of not having to "fix" the Atlas's original artwork from the 3025TRO for the tabletop game.

"Never See Us Comin'"

On this 'Mech?

Isn't that a bit like Lord of the Rings, "The Dwarf breathed so loud we could have shot him in the dark?"

I'm just messin' with you MMax, but my constructive criticism now would be, shouldn't those colors be restricted to the Irish? They are very bright.

My thoughts exactly...

But it doesn't matter as long as the mech is cool. Besides, it's still better than the full pink mechs Mariks like to field. ;)

About two or three months ago they talked about custom paint jobs. This would basically be like selecting a skin and then changing variables to make different parts different colors (like in Homeworld). They also included decals in the mix, though at this time everything they're working on is in-house: I don't believe there are currently plans for player-designed insignia.

See, that's sad right there... the insignia's should be in-game prior to the release of the Community Warfare pillar and all that entails, and unsavory decals should be reportable and removed. Let the community police the skins and the decals, as much as possible.

I agree in principal. Hopefully if they do just stick with canonical decals they give a large number of them. In most MW games that have had decals, we've been limited to maybe two dozen of the most popular/common insignia at most. Having a huge number of decals would help spice things up considerably.

As for community-created decals I naturally sympathize with you and many others. I would love it if the player base could create and use their own decals in game. As-is, we'll just have to see. Maybe down the line the devs will change their minds.

The problem is this: Canon Merc Units are not allowed in MWO. Why provide Canon Merc Unit decals when players can't even PLAY those units, let alone command them, anymore? No, PGI pulled this pickle from the jar themselves, and it would be appreciated if they would make it possible to have the Fanon Merc Unit decals.

Yeah, but it would contribute to role-play. I mean, there's nothing to stop players from RP-ing a canonical mercenary unit in all but in-game-name. I mean, technically there's no allowance for player-based faction units at this point either. I think we'll see a lot of things change as the game goes live and the dev team gets feedback from the player base.

Hayden, why didn't you tell people you once again edited your Trebuchet collection? It's 10 pages behind and most people won't know about it (otherwise, it would already be swarmed with Daviots thanking you  ).

While I'm at it, it's a pretty good repaint, as usually. :)
