This kind of attention from the devs & feedback to the community is what gives me hope the game will live up to expectations

MWLL is Crysis1/Crysis Wars.
That's Cry-Engine 2, because FarCry was CryEngine 1.
MWO is going to be CryEngine 3, same as Crysis 2 . .
I know it is the next engine in the series, but think of it. Why would they use CryEngine 3, when they already had a license on Unreal 3?

I'd be willing to put a small bet down that solely the "pure amount of customization" part already sparked a couple of major outbreaks of paranoia&suspicion among the potential player base. Good job, Paul!
And the second part which indicates there will be parts included and there will be parts "pushed off"... I expect some (re-)heated discussion about that one. In all fairness, could have been worse, you could have stated: "There will be no weapon pods, we're working on something completely new!". And then offer no info at all on the "new" thing, heh. That would have put some posters into overdrive...
Now regarding the mentioning of the venerable "Nakatomi Plaza", can we expect some sort of easter egg/tribute to that from PGI? Maybe as little as a spoof-y news feed in the lobby of the game mentioning a shootout there... on the planet Siat-el perhaps...

Because it's a better engine for what they want to do? It fits their developmental and marketing strategy better? Maybe it scales better to technology, current, past and future. I doubt it is because MWLL inspired them to use it.

From a designer's standpoint... a much, MUCH easier engine to work with, with more built-in support for a variety of things... rather than having to jury-rig custom modules that may or may not break each time you attempt to implement a new feature.
