and by the way:
there´s scout pilots out there that can do this several times in a single match and without coolant flush!!
seriously, all it would do would be allowing a Steiner scout lance an additional alphastrike

B ) Most pilots can still at least hold their own against heavier mechs. Each class has it's own advantages.
C) Seems a bit overpowered, especially if you're boating. Why should I try to balance my loadout if I can rock 6 PPC's and alpha strike everything to win?
Not to pee on your sandwich, but I hope this doesn't get implemented. At least to me, it seems a bit to easy too abuse, and a bit too hard to balance to the metagame as a whole.

Both of which IMO are terrible ideas (for gameplay reasons)
I have no problem with them regarding the actual lore and storys, just in a game they become a crutch and then everyone and his dog HAS to use it or be disadvantaged.

What I mean by relative scaling is something like this; Provided an equal amount of coolant (say, 100 units), Light mechs would use 25 units of coolant to reduce heat, while Assault mechs would use 50. This way it adds more balance to the mechanic, while still offering it as an option to all players.
Without such a system, Assault mechs could viably load up with tons of beam weapons and get just as many "burst" shots per match as Light mechs, but the damage differences would be ridiculous. Assaults could potentially one-shot Light and Medium mechs, which could completely ruin a team if more than one Assault is using this tactic.
Even with a scaling system though, allowing an Assault class even one of these shots could still cause an issue. More likely we'll just have to manage our heat normally.

But they take up tonnage and will explode when shot.

common guys live a little this is a beta and the game never leavs beta so if this becomes unbalanced make it cost more to balance. and if it proves its a game breaker in a bad way just keep twiking it till it becomes viable.

also this make them exploding thus flamer mechs are more effective against boating mechs hit run scouts gain another advantage.
