But what exactly do Heat sinks do? and where should I put them on my mech?
Also where do I put the ammo for my weapons (In the same place my weapons are located? aka arms?)

Sending you a message. This probably should be asked in the BETA forums though as there is really no way to skirt around how to answer this.

Where you should put them is a matter of preference, generally. Although it is worth noting that heat sinks in the legs become slightly more effective if the mech is standing in water, so I like to put them there first.
Ammo is similar in that it's up to personal preference, you can even put it in the legs if you want, but ammo may "cook off" (resulting in internal damage unless you have CASE equipped) so placing them in the side torsos is generally okay as long as you aren't running an XL engine.
This thread doesn't necessarily break NDA as this can all apply to other mech games and TT I believe. Also, this has been discussed in public videos and reveals, so don't get NDA crazy y'all.

Heat sinks and ammo can go anywhere you want them to on a mech, but be warned that if the ammo is in an important part of the mech, it might kill you if it explodes from overheating. Also, if you lose the part that has a lot of heat sinks and/or ammo, you lose the heat dissipation/use of the weapon using that ammo, respectively.
Hope this helps!

Use CASE where you store the ammo. An ammo explosion can really ruin your day.

they are sometimes described as fans, but they are as other people said, are thermic dissipators of some sort.
go to sarna.com you will find a lot of info about battletech there.

Energy weapons typically generate a lot of heat, so if you're planning on focusing on those weapons, you should invest in a lot of heat sinks so you can fire more often. Generally speaking, weapons with ammo generate less heat in comparison, so if you're decked out in machine guns and AC's, you could survive with less heat sinks.
A few of the maps have environmental effects that can cause your mech to run warmer than usual, possibly making it necessary to add more sinks as a precaution. On the flip side, I'm guessing that winter maps would help you cool down quicker, so there's that.
Lastly, Flamers are weapons specifically designed to increase an enemies heat, at the expense of low damage. Thing is, if a mech isn't heat efficient, then it could be locked down by a mech sporting flamers if they keep you hot enough to shut down your mech.

This was a totally valid question to be asked in this forum. It in no way compromised any information regarding the Beta. For all you know he has installed MW4 for the 1st time and hasn't a clue how to set up a mech. Peeps need to lighten up a tad.
