I don't just rub my hands together and think of how i can tear apart some of your childhoods
i first put some classical music on, pour myself some blood into a gold encrusted goblet, and laugh upon a throne of bones befor...i ...i mean i don't do that.
No, actually there are various reasons why the design looks the way it does.
Primary of which is that a lot of BT mech designs fall into the "humanoid with a cannon for an arm" category. And were i to stick too closely to the canon appearance, we could easily end up with a lot of mechs that would be hard to visually distinguish from one another at a distance. (The classic centurion head crest ...fin... sensor thingy, not exactly being something that would all that visible at longer ranges.) So to guard against the possibility, i had to make the mech as visually distinct as possible and push the proportions this way and that as well as add a few things here and there,

You know I was at first on the thought of the feet, just look strange. But they look VERY fuctional. Part of what makes us humans beable to walk is the various shifting of our feet to keep balance. Those trunk like ones of the TRO centurion are just flat, and make me think it would walk like it has something wedge between its arse cheeks. The buckler part is a little different, but hey why not a slab of ferro-fibrous to stop some AC rounds or a bit of laser beams.

I sure hope it's usable. I'm not much into shields on 'mechs, but being able to raise your arm to block some incoming fire would be a major upgrade in the game mechanics. Not like we get to use that arm for anything. (yet...)

For example, look at the feet - how could a TRO Centurion walk over rocks and unstable ground? Look at its Luxor A/C. It's pretty much mostly barrel. There's hardly any space for a gun mechanism, and how does a shell get loaded into it? The upper arm is so thin there'd be negligible armour and internals in order to provide a channel for the ammunition.
The lack of a distinct head is a shame and I could imagine a lot of the disgruntled views would be alleviated if it at least had a seperate head. However I think the concept art is great and really freshens the art style. I think, in short, it's a solid addition to the stable so far.
Now that I've seen what kind of re-imagining is possible for the TRO 'Mechs, I just really really hope that the Warhammer resembles a revisioin to the unseen version, rather than the reseen (and that goes for the other unseens).

So now it looks like the Hunchback and Dragon.
Aren't you allowed to change up your design style?

Understood. I'm not a fan of this one its not ugly, just not to my taste...but the other ones have been terrific. That said, its your art man! Do it your way. Thats why they hired you right? I hope your not discouraged by some of our opinions here, because your work is great and I'm pretty sure all of us would agree that there is no one else we would rather have handling these remakes. So keep doing your thing and thanks for that!

I don't know if that would necessarily be a bad thing though. It would definately play more into the "Information Warfare" concept. Having a hard time visually distinguishing a centurtion from a trebuchet, jenner from a stalker would make the better sensor packages even more advantageous.
Regardless and as usual you just can't please everybody, this may be the most controversial art you've made so far but I say keep doing what your doing.

Why would anyone want a head sticking out that says HEY SHOOT HERE!! I love this updated Centurion, it looks so badass.

Although everyone has a right to an opinion I have to disagree with people clinging onto the TRO Centurion. It looks like a person in a box suit. Like someone spent 20 seconds drawing boxes and calling it a mech. It's like someone saying they think a Dodge Shadow is the most beautiful car on the planet. When you do a remake of a 1950's Sci Fi movie, you don't use two plates glued together as a spaceship on a piece of string, but modernize the design. And this is exactly what we have here.
i'm extremely impressed. Keep up the great work!
One thing I agree about, and is an easy fix, is the shield. I don't really get it if its not canon. The head makes sense as you're not going to have separate controls for the head rotation and torso. Just like some mechs have rear lasers. Not really going to work for a PC game.

I was siting at the office when I snuck a peak at the MWO, and literally dropped a "holy ****" in the workplace.
Not an accepted corporate practice mind you!
I love the look, I am going to have a serious issue deciding between this the hunch or the dragon at launch!

The centurion was really generic, this new version really has a "look" to it.
Also, the shield on the arm and the shoulder make me think of something from Gundam... say what you want but its a plus for me.
Anyway, I think its a really great design, one of my favorite so far.
