I will have to find chapter and verse to be sure. However I do believe AMS is ineffective against ArrowIV.

Arrow IV was mech mounted artillery. And I do think AMS specified missile types, so no, not effective I don't think, and at it's effective range I wouldn't think blowing the Arrow would be a great plan anyway.

Would we really need a C3 for arrows though? Be nice if we could just fit them in our other missile cats.

Depends. If it counts as a missile type system for the hard points then yes you could, the C3 would just come with it loaded. I'm sort of hoping it gets a special hard point type but then again similar MW4 systems weren't incredibly common either.

Man, I saw the Arrow Arty come in MechCommander Gold and it changed everything.
Where there is one advantage, there is always a counter.. ( who gets it first?)

Remember, It is not true Arty (Artilery Strikes)
This thing will take up the whole mechs loadout. Its basicly like a Howitzer (pardon Spelling).
Med/Heavy+ Mechs Only, you shouldn't see Jenners or Cougars running around with em.. I hope!!!

Sooo, the inner sphere, just remembered how to make missiles self guiding, because it forgot how, yet it didn't forget how to use brainwaves to make large amounts of steel karate kick and high five..

This is one of those..hey guys, you know those tin openers that we kept working for the last thousand years, well we just remembered how to make the cans they opened..

Anyway, great work, confederated suns, once I cure alzheimer's I'll remember how to ignite this party popper..

:D :D :excl:

People forgot how to make concrete for a 1000 years even though the Romans used it everywhere and there were still standing examples of concrete buildings. I find it really easy to believe that the IS forgot how to build heavy missile systems guided by Mechs. Think how complicated a washing machine is, do you know how to make one? I sure as hell don't. :D

Well it is about time. One ton won't cut it, unless we have a resupply truck nearby. Usually carry around 10-12 tons of ammunition.

YES! They HAVE to implement the Arrow IV. Perhaps make it's minimum range very high, and add a few bigger maps? Then it would be only effective in large areas.

The Catapult is my favorite 'mech, and the C3 is my variant of choice, so I'd really like to see this.

"Forgetting" is easy. Especially when you nuke assembly plants and research facilities or even entire planets in an IS wide conflict like the First (and Second?) Succession War. Plus, there was for hundreds of years an organisation at work, that killed or abducted scientists who where on the brink to reinvent all kinds of things. I believe, that was Comstar. ;)

so with only one ton of ammo, it will not be as effective. and depending on how or if, they are even putting this into the game is still to be seen.

Always wondered about that. The default payload only provides ~50 seconds of sustained fire support -- granted, the weapons-system is so large, there's really no room for "realoading" conveyors :P It's more logical that the 5/ton ammunition is just a 'logistics' kinda thing about it. It would be more realistic if the housing weighed 10 tons, and each missle was 1t (lil closer to actual cruise-missiles).

I use to be a mechwarrior just like you.

But then I took an Arrow 4 to the knee... both of them, and my torso....

I can easily see this being a commander's thing more-so than an ingame thing. (Unless the maps get huge)

i cant recall, did the Arrow-IV have a min range? and if so, what was it?
now, if it didn't HAVE a minimum range.....
this could become more interesting
(steeples fingers in contemplation)

I've seen these monsters in action in MWLL. Their max range is like 5km, as long as someone's got a C3 or has NARCed an opponent. Good times.

Canonically, the Arrow IV had no minimum range, and a maximum range of 8 maps (which works out to ~4.08km).
Also, Arrow IV missiles were canonically immune to AMS (CBT Master Rules, pg. 130; TacOps, pg. 357).
