It doesn't matter what you think should be legal. All that matters is what's legal. Abandoned software and tv shows, sure, that's ok, but they should really be put elsewhere, because torrent sites are filled with illegal content.

Also, it doesn't matter how good or bad the demo is. What's illegal is illegal, and it's your job to make the decision on whether the game is worth buying. If you have any doubts, it's as simply as not buying the game.

Hey, did you know being a black literate man was once against the law in some places in this country? Would you of told them there was no excuse because it was against the law?

Just because someone with more power or in this case, money (RIAA/MPAA), told you something was wrong, doesn't automatically make it wrong. It just means that some people can pay enough of the right people to put you in jail for something they don't like you doing.

So i take it you would of supported punishing black people for reading back in the 1800s? I mean, you have just claimed how certainly you think its A-OK to strip people of their civil rights because they share digital media...

No, and you're kind of being a jerk to say that I'm a bigot and a blind authority follower just because I want people to be payed for their jobs.

Let me clarify yet again, you're not getting the picture: They made it, they can sell it, like any product made ever. Toilet paper companies don't produce toilet paper for free. Why should game companies?

On demoing games first, It's a bit more iffy, but I believe they have as much right to withhold a demo as a restaurant has the right to not give out free samples. That doesn't mean you can steal their burgers, no matter how inconvenient it is for you or how hungry you are.

The reason there is an economy boils down to limited resources, almost everything, including plastic, is made of a limited resource, computers are made of limited resources, so anything computerish will cost money... If everything was free, we would run out of resources *snaps* just like that.

This thread has taken a turn for the even worse. Turn back before someone really says something a delete button wont help you with.

Well, I already called him a pirate, so that delete button won't help the fact he is a pirate.

Natural selection, man. If someone wants to say something that gets them banned, by all means, say it and begone!

Jk, jk =P

OT: It's ridiculous how entitled people feel these days. Why should a car company let you take their car for free? Why would you have the right to sneak into a movie and watch it? What gives you the right to use a company's product without their consent?

Nothing.

You are entitled to what you pay for or earn, stop acting like it's not true.

it doesnt matter what is right or wrong, legal or illegal. only that some kid spent many years in college learning programming, softwear dev, etc etc... then found a job makeing video games or an artist making music also etc etc... putting many hours of hard work into their craft to MAKE A LIVING with their trade. and you steal it from them. they get no money for their hard work and your greedy *** gets it for free.

I would say you were a minority. You know why i say that? Because the site would not have been shut down if more than half the people actually purchased what they "demo". End of story.

Well yeah, and again, I could have used a demo but as someone above us said most companies don't feel like putting out demos anymore, not sure why, seemed like good advertizment, but for some reason people just want to use advertising and a list of specs. You have to allow a demo or something , incase someone has what they believe to fit the specs per what their manufacturer says, but doesn't because of how hte game is coded.

I agree with the OP. Ive torrented tons of games that I would have never bought otherwise and Bought games I wish I had torrented. Glad ive still got the leach to be honest though. Whats bad is when game companies release half assed works and charge 50$ King Arthur 2 I cant even play and bought it on release because I torrented the first, loved it, bought it and expected the same from the second but no it dosnt even work. Legend of Pegasus I was curious about DLed the torrent and it was absolute crap and uninstalled an hour later and I almost preordered it.

So no I do feel self entitled to a torrent when the companies feel like self titling themselves to 60$ on a half *** release or a game that is only "ported" . Games cost 50$ years ago when their were physical copies that existed for a single console so you targeted a small audience (snes, genesis, PS or Xbox) now most are blanketed ports. Also now that mass production is a lot easier and there is no such thing as supply and demand in digital goods because its infinite that price should have dropped considerably or at least for digital distribution that need no packaging. The same goes for codeing. Dont give me BS that it takes more effort. Yea its hard but their are more advanced programs that do the work for the devs so work hours to produce is probably roughly the same. But COD fan bois believe its ok to let EA charge 59$ for a copy and paste game that uses the same core code for the last 5 installments.

Unless it's made to be free and open source, but if it's not, it's called stealing.

you people disgust me youre all too closed minded to see torrent sites are just as helpful as they are evil in your eyes and i support piracy 100% if you make a terrible game you shouldnt get my money for it end of story if you write god aweful music it deserves to be pirated look at companies like eidos, their leaked beta of deus ex human revolution that went all over torrent sites didnt cost them money if anything it gave them free publicity and encouraged more sales when it finally did release

If you wanted to know why you can't get good games on PC anymore .. its because of Torrent sites. That's part of the reason you now have FTP and Online only games dominating the PC market. No one can get investors to sink 100 million dollars into a game because someone will steal it. This is also why you can still by console games in the store ... because pirating is much harder since the platforms are closed ... and the pirating that does happen is basically immaterial to the bottom line.

I'm not gonna lie, I torrented games before. But the industry adapted and now its a non-issue, at least for video games. PC games are still profitable, and the black-market in video games is basically going away because of economics of it.

Civil rights were stripped and have been perpetually throughout the copyright "war" in such wonderful ways as, illegal extradition, no due process, and a brevity of other incredibly shady and underhanded tactics.

You guys should stop agreeing to piracy, but if you want to go to jail, you can keep doing it.

Maybe you should have torrented some grammar books so you could learn what punctuation was.

In all seriousness, its a pirate sight, no matter how anyone used it they supported illegal trading of intillectual property. That is illegal, call it whatever you want, that changes nothing.

Ok, I don't normally do this but, if your going to call people on grammar, check your spelling before you post. Sight should be Site, Intillectual should be Intellectual.
