Ok, I don't normally do this but, if your going to call people on grammar, check your spelling before you post. Sight should be Site, Intillectual should be Intellectual.

Boom goes the dynamite! Haha hey I admit I am a horrible speller. Maybe I should torrent some spelling aids.

if you think trying before buying is piracy, or "The practice of attacking and robbing ships at sea"

then test driving cars must be grand theft auto or at the very least, larceny.

or even better, courtship and premarital sex must be kidnapping and rape.

personally though, I think used sales and rentals damage "the industry" more than anything, or maybe they're just entitled?

as far as demonoid goes, don't care. when you host a means to procure digital content illegally(see:enabling) this kind of retaliation is inevitable from those who make the laws

P.S. Torrent Sites allow people to also get DRM free copies of games they already own.

Since it has been proven time and time again, DRM only ever screws the customer.

Hey, did you know being a black literate man was once against the law in some places in this country? Would you of told them there was no excuse because it was against the law?

Just because someone with more power or in this case, money (RIAA/MPAA), told you something was wrong, doesn't automatically make it wrong. It just means that some people can pay enough of the right people to put you in jail for something they don't like you doing.

I am all about "fight the power" and stand against authority. Especially government authority. This is on the other hand is by no means an abuse of power. It is a fight against theft. It has nothing to do with ignorant racism, or keeping the poor poorer, or any other dumb **** you can come up with. When all that comes out is crap music, games, movies, and TV because nobody is watching paid for advertisements or paying for the CD/iTunes to pay for label fees. Once again its going to be everyone else's fault for not GIVING you what you want you spoiled brats. People bust their ***'s to make these things, and I'm not talking about the actors or musicians. The sound boom guys, camera men, guys working at the CD factory's. YOU ARE ROBBING THEM! Get over your entitlement attitude get a job shut the **** up and get the **** over it you spoiled *****.

This video breaks down the numbers the big companies use to explain where a lot of damage from piracy comes from and how the numbers are calculated. While not mentioning games it is very relevant to the closure of Demonoid and the measures being taken to secure intellectual property on the internet.

if you make a terrible game you shouldnt get my money

Also this is an incredibly stupid thing to say. I'm still trying to figure out, what the hell it even means. So... you think the game is terrible... but you want to play it anyway? That's about as far as I can get with this logic before my brain starts hurting trying to figure it out.

I'm sorry but you seriously just went full ****** right here. In the case of courtship and test driving you've got the owner's permission before hand and a guarantee that you'll compensate or return whatever it is you're trying out. In the case of piracy you're going behind their back to try it out without any guarantee that you'll return it.

Ever heard of demos?

Yeah, I did. They used to exist long, long time ago. Now it's very rare to see one.
And I hope this doesn't end up as a quiet mourning. I hope Anonymous rases oceans and mountains, and levels down the.... I have no words of how discusting those people are.
Our hopes are with you, Anonymous. Give them hell.

1. Then why do the people who push these laws, never share the winnings with the artists?
2. Copying a digital item /= Stealing a physical item. If you could copy and paste a chair, it wouldn't be stealing either.
3. As mentioned, the idea is not to "get free ****" its to stop companies selling us bogus goods. File sharing has broken the imbalance that large companies with millions to pour into marketing have over indie developers or smaller companies that actually produce a quality product. Not to mention, where is the legal recourse for them when they sell you what is essentially counterfeit goods, promising one thing and giving them another? If you or I tried to purchase their goods with counterfeit money, you go straight to jail, no questions asked. Not to mention, the people who make these laws have routinely been found to be guilty of their own crimes, yet nothing happens to them of course.
4. You're not fighting the power by riding the coat tails of battles won in the past and saying "Yeah! I agree to that!" It only counts when actively struggling against a power structure that still exists in present time... right now, you're buying the hype. :(
5. The same companies that try to make you feel so bad about "stealing from the artists" have polices that **** over those same people way harder than you ever could in your dreams.

This could be the most ignorant argument ever put up in defense of pirating. If a company puts out **** games that company will go out of business. This goes for any product in the world, but if the company across the street puts out a very good product (ie game) they will go out of business because everyone is stealing their good product along with the ****** product (ie games). ****

Those are horrible examples. Both the acts you described are legal. Test driving software unless specified by the authors is illegal. Stop trying to rationalize some of you peoples desire to get something free that you have to right to. If you research a game or anything online before you buy it you can read reviews.

oh, well i dont use xbox live, or own an xbox for that matter because I don't believe in paying for my internet connection twice a month, more specifically, paying for a service that sells my information and forces me to look at ads, that is exclusively available on a poorly designed and constantly failing computer platform.

well, i did have xbox live for the original xbox, but I cancelled it after I got tired of disconnects and lag, and to my surprise they kept billing me for years until they finally sent me a letter.

That's why you see things like Diablo 3 where you have to log on online to play singleplayer. Ridiculous things like that are direct results of prominent illegal downloads.

No, you see this because the info large media groups collect and sell(usually for advertising research) as part of the terms of service is worth WAY more then what you spend on a game. Why do you think every media company is trying to create their own version? Why not just use Valve?

Outsourced labour is always better and yet Micrsoft, the lords of shafting the digital community are putting an integrated store in the next version of Windows...
