The reason that I am hilariously entertained by goon antics is the same as my utter revulsion with them. Summed up by Darius Johnson of the EVE Goonsvarm: "We're not here to ruin THE game. We're here to ruin YOUR game."

It is rather amusing to see other people exposed to the goons and their antics, but it is an utter pain in the *** when you are yourself on the receiving end.

That quote gets misused all the time, the way you did just now. The point is that people were moaning that Goons ruin EVE (they don't) because they don't play the way that those people wanted them to. Goon response was to point out they are not ruining the game, they're annoying idiots who think they have the only way to play it.

I like big butts, but I CAN lie. However, one of us always tells the truth. So to answer your question, you should always change your selected door to the OTHER one if the first door opened doesn't reveal the prize because maths.

I must admit I do not know any forerunning events to the quote, but I was a member of the CFC for about a year and a half, and seeing the goons unleashed on 'pubbies' pretty much cemented this in my mind.
On the other hand I'm not gonna be a "Stop having fun!" guy. I'm in no way going to tell you how to play the game, as long as its intent is not to inhibit the joy of others.

If you have fun with Lowtax, then by all means, do your thing, as long as you don't use it as a vehicle to carry the destruction of my fun or the fun of others.

Sure, but even at the time, what the Goons largely did was have their own fun... the only people whose 'fun' they could be considered to be destroying were those who basically were screaming "You're doing it wrong!".

The quote in question is reported a direct response to the head of BoB claiming that goons had arrived in EvE to ruin the entire game, in an attempt to stamp out the foul menace of "new players having fun" that was plagueing the game at that time. Sadly they were not successful, and to this day poor deluded souls still enjoy EvE.

No. There was an established "Old Guard" in EvE who had basically made up a list of rules for the game that dictated how others should play. These rules were fine for them because they let them keep everything they had and no one else could challenge them. Goonswarm ignored these invented rules (that were never part of the game mechanics) and the response "We're here to ruin YOUR game" was directed at the old guard who'd made up rules that benefited only them - to whit, goons weren't going to play by those rules.

So no, we're not out to ruin other people's experience in the game - but if a group managed to convince everyone else in the game that legging was bad and against the "rules", we'd be the ones legging constantly. We play by the rules of the game itself, not by conventions that others establish around the rules.

I really don't get why people get so butthurt about goons.

Sure there's a few entertaining things. (technic/tekkit) that get people riled up but IMO they are one of the few groups that are willing to use games to their full potential. (ex) what used to happen in eve online. To me if they aren't breaking the TOS what's the difference.

see, that makes sense and i even agree with that part. But that is not the only thing i've seen various "lowtax" members doing (i dont know *** to call you all). it's a lot of deliberate attempts at annoying people (aka: trolling), harassment, exploiting (i know, that fits in the "*innocent look* we're just following the rules" cop-out) thinly veiled threats to follow people around in the game specifically targeting people, etc etc.

Also, this isnt EvE, why does what other people did there have anything to do with here? "People were dix to us in another game, so we're just going to be pre-emptively be dix here, derp".

so while i accept and your "press release" explanation you just gave me, you're still just trolls trolling while walking the fine line of staying barely within the rules, and comments like this one:

only show how butthurt and sensitive you guys are about people telling you how they see you based on how some (if not all) of your members act in game and on the forums. How is this thread hijacked? It's clearly labled "'Goon Squad' Questions?" and who better to answer such than Goons (other than Goon Squad themselves, who may or may not be playing blah blah WoW is not EvE is not WoT is not MWO 160K members blah)?

You're bad at trolling because you assume you're getting an emotional response when all that happens is people post rational responses and then you claim that words are being twisted and that we are in fact trolling, so I'm going to let you in on two little secrets:

1: we come from the land that spawned 4Chan. We have legendary troll characters like JeffK and Leonard J. Crabs who exist only in the fiendish mind of Lowtax himself, genuinely terrible assaults that spawned organically from the userbase and then weird-meta trolls like the happyelf fanclub in the TGD subforum. Those are varying levels of good-to-great trolling. This is bad trolling.

2; yes, we are trolling. We take sensible and logical positions then state them clearly and unambiguously because we know it drives people like you nuts. There is no greater troll than just being right in the face of crazy.
