You're overcomplicated the simple. Docking collars, airlocks, etc. Just go in those with a blow torch.

TRO-3057 revised, page 173
My apologies you are indeed right that it is mentioned to be exact though the craft changes significantly from the Sarna readout and still doesn't list the real date of it's introduction, even the revised has kept it as being introduced in 3053 though in the same description heading it states as follows.
"The NL-42 troop transport is the military equivalent of the S-7A Bus. Nicknamed the "Battle Taxi," the NL-42 is designed to deliver troops onto the hull of a target vessel, enabling them to board the target vessel regardless of its status. The first vessels of this class saw extensive action during the Star League era and the Succession Wars. Originally the transports carried standard troops, but recent models have been designed to carry power-armored troops as well."
The Revised stats keep the same armor and weapons as the Sarna entry but reduce the troops to 2 squads or 2 stars of power-armor.
Also of note in regards to the use of this craft via the cannon is that the S-7A bus it is designed upon isn't introduced til 2602, which to me would mean you are correct it was used during the Star league era just not quite in our time period, like a lot of the nice Star League toys I'm sure we'd all like to use.

That is what the point is, basically this beacon says "'Somewhere on this ship please'. Maybe 'Aim towards middle". And the average warship has a large enough counter boarding force to keep those places practically killzones, with no where to take cover. That is the exact reason I said that we are not going for the hangar, as SOP is keep the hangar secure so you can launch fighters, which means that, we would be slaughtered trying to assault it.

Time for the GM power hour.
I've decided that to keep things simple - the Battle Taxis shall be allowed. It's true there isn't much on sarna, but keep in mind this period is ancient history compared to when most of the lore was written, and was also the age of huge naval battles. There must have been some way for ships to initiate boarding actions - so the battle taxi or something similar seems to be the most plausible.
As for locator beacons, keep in mind this is space, and therefore huge. Radio waves from a beacon might take minutes to reach a friendly ship. Therefore, I figure locators can be used to attract friendly ASF, but naval warships will most likely ignore it unless they are quite close together. Besides, boarding actions would likely only take place on already damaged/crippled ships anyway. Attacking a fully functional warship with marines would be suicidal.
I'll leave it up to the marine commanders to decide how best to attack. Air locks can be kill zones and highly dangerous, but don't require bulky environmental suits. Holes in the hull allow easy, spontaneous access - but inner blast doors will be closed and patched to avoid atmosphere loss. In addition, breaching the patches would vent further atmosphere, shutting more blast doors - and severely hampering progress, as you now have to cut through each blast door.
I will allow venting of atmosphere only in compartments that might conceivably catch fire, and where personnel would be minimized - ie engine spaces and ammunition storage depots. I can't see shipbuilders allowing atmosphere evacuations in the level C cafeteria. (Besides it makes it too easy for captains to kill another RPer's entire team + half their crew).

Course now I'm going to have to find some way for cheating MekHQ into allowing me to put "Battle Taxis" onboard.. Stupid thing

Editor Note: I'm still going to lock Gam in the cafeteria though, not his characters, just him

Also Also Note: By the way Boss, which variant are you going to use of the Taxi? The one that delivers 2 squads or the one with 3 platoons? Inquiring minds I'm sure want to know. Looking at comparable Sarna info and troop dropships I'd suggest the 2 squad version considering the small craft is only 200 tons and a comparable Vampire class dropship that is almost 400 tons fits 3 platoons of jump infantry in tightly cramped conditions.

It is hard enough to stay active in the current RPs.
Apologetically,

I'm tempted.... very tempted. *shrugs* I have an idea for a space marine, (God, I love saying that.) A recently promoted sargent who fights boredom and contraband regs by brewing his own 'toilet wine' from bits of fruit from the mess hall... Though I'm fearful that any use of alcohol will cause GW to nuke my homemade still....
Oh yeah and great posts everyone!!!

Though, if you're on the Taurian side, it'd be legitimate fire...to bad the Taurians have enough marines. I've got a battalion of marines attached to the Voidwalker that I'm not expecting to play much - two companies of marines, plus their transport vehicles loaded in a Vulture class assault dropship. You could replace them, if you wanted - together, we could keep your still (and the WarShip as a whole) safe.
