A Mech for every situation, every situation needs a different Mech!

This is so true MWO is way harder to balance than tatics so they will need more time to create mechs, but a list of what they are planning to make would be nice.

When this game is release, I will take into consideration how many playable mechs are in it to rate the game.

That would ruin all the suspense. The community spends ages speculating about what the next mech will be, debating what this game needs, etc, and then when one is released, the forums light up for the next two days talking furiously about it. MWO's community management has been great.
Imagine how boring each mech release would be if we knew all the mechs that were going to make it in anyway? But this way, it keeps the community alive. If they gave us a list today with every mech they're planning, I'd be excited for a minute, and then forget about it.
Additionally, this is a F2P title. Development never ends. They don't even know what they'll be adding in the future, and binding themselves to stick to certain designs now might prove a bad decision when they see the metagame unfold, and some designs have no place, but others are sorely needed, but they haven't been announced.
Lastly, we already have as many mechs announced as MW2 had!

Well I didn't mean the while list for the entire games history, and yeah we know what chassis are available from the time and setting; what I was asking for was a comprehensive list of launch date playable chassis. There might be one and I have not found it. All I seem to find is where someone has listed the mech chassis from the date in history where launch is taking place.

I cringed the first time I looked at some of the models. Sad. Just.... sad.

it takes income to hire good art teams. playing another mmo since 2005 has taught me that. if you set your expectations too high they will never be met. this game should already be off to a decent start with the founders packs helping to pay off the developer-man-hours they've already put in to the game and giving them estimates of how many players they'll have the funding from moving forward. good art is one of the most intensive and time consuming parts of creating a new game. it may not be the best in the world in the beginning, but you can bet they'll keep working on improving them as the game evolves. so don't be too disappointed with the first iterations we get access to. :]

Yeah.... MechWARRIOR Tactics, not Mech Tactics. Good try though.

MegaMek also:
- Takes hours to play a single match
- Has a much slower development cycle
- Isn't near as good looking as MW:T
- Is very *bad* at MechWarrior RPG campaigns (through MekHQ - trust me, it's sub-optimal for ANY size unit)

I dunno about you but truly free to play without the eye candy sure beats the heck out of Collectible Miniatures Game any day of the week. I speak from experience in playing CCG/CMG games and the rarity levels of the cards/miniatures makes the game truly a pay to win scenario. Also, I hate the looks of the mechs in MW:T, but I really like the ortho style miniatures of MegaMek.
It works for what it is and does a good job of it. The TT took awhile to complete, but is not automated in anyway which MegaMek does automate quite a bit of the game itself. It takes care of LOS etc... while leaving you to do the actual rolls. I like rolling.
As far as campaigns go, it works well so far for the 3015 campaign I'm putting together.

2nd the whole game bases on boosterpacks, so it NEEDS tons of mechs and weapons...
gotta catch ´em all, ya know

but still you can USE megamek for that, contrary to MW:Tactics... afaik, this won´t be possible for a long time...
(not to mention that you will probably need to play like forever to get the right mechs for your campaign..since the boosterpacks tend to be largely luck dependend)
and megamek is even faster (if time is the concern) than playing the battles with the REAL tabletop... sure it needs work to build a decent campaign setting, but at least it´s possible... so that is not a valid "pro argument" for tactics

What? Your Panther? In green? Blue? Or Purple? Your aware that you cant do ANYTHING to your mech when you have it in green, you can change A LITTLE when you have it in Blue...to change and custom you need to buy it in "rare...in purple"
I got no problem with paying for what I play, I love Battletech...but when I heard of the Mech's being Cards you can BUY in different collors...dude...that made my day.
