So in the end, we conclude they wont be added. Was not so hard now was it? :o

Horribly hard.

Really just had to put a few things out there that most people seem not to know due to the whole "In MY DAY we only had 'mechs that went up to 100 tons AND WE LIKED IT THAT WAY" thing that seems to have been going around.

I seem to be one of the few who like the Jihad onward stuff. I mean come on that time frame is where we get things like MMLs, HAGs and other shiny bits of new destruction. :D

I'm not a massive fan of the Jihad era and beyond. Like someone else said so well on these forums we all come to Battletech at different times in it's history and love it for what it is then. I'm also not a massive purist tabletop nut, I actually got into Battletech via MechWarrior 4 back in 2000. Considering WD is my personal fav faction and they get blow to hell in the Jihad, it's not really going to be massively interesting for me on the lore perspective. But certainly from equipment and new rules it's exciting.

I think it can be summed up though in the follow. On the MWO Facebook page someone was asking about the Uziel. Only to have one of the admins reply that it would take almost 15 years until it showed up due too the off-set timeline. There are loads of Mechs I love during even pre civil war era which are going to take 7 or 8 years before they show up, that is a long long time in computer game terms.

Ugh, super-heavies....

Big is not better. Why build a 30+ million c-bill monstrosity that a.) won't fit on most dropships b.) just rolls over dead to elementals, artillery, bombers, orbital bombardment, and swarm tactics?

They seem to be spawned from the same deranged and militarily incapable mind that spawned the WoB making the galaxies' largest fully equiped military out of thin air under the noses of 7 intelligence agencies.

There aren't many reasons, which is precisely why the only time they are used until the Dark Age consists of about 20 prototypes built by the Word of Blake that take part in a single battle in which they are all destroyed, along with the factory that built them.

They really had nothing close to such a thing...

I have a few too that I would like to see, but are a few years ahead in the timeline and some that are of the timeline (Archer, Thunderbolt.). I try to pick out the good things that come from the lore, and not focus too much on the bad.

Kind of like Order 66 from Star Wars?

EDIT: Also it wasn't so much that they had the largest military. They just used tactics that all the great Houses didn't think someone would use. Like wholesale use of orbital bombardment and nuclear weapons.

Although ducks do have the ability to fly, 100 ton+ dont have jets :P I'de call them sleeping dodo's. Except in the command of a Lyran, then they become medium-heavy assault mechs :)

The only combat vehicle i can imagine worth being over 100 ton would be some kind of anti-orbital artillery...

...and even then, it would be better off as a bunker.
