*** it was a tough tie between the Griffin and Hatchetman, but in the end Hatchetman pulls through for me. The AC/10 and dual medium lasers, as well as the hatchet and the awesome design and JJ's, are a nice blend of fire power, assuming the medium lasers are as effective as they are described in the books. I am still partial to the Griffin though, because the PPC and LRM/10 make it a deadly foe at range

When it comes to Medium 'Mechs, versatility is what I'm looking for, and the Wolverine's variants have everything going for them there.

Heavy punch with AC or PPC? It can do that. JJs or heat sink stacks to support LLs? It can do those too.

Gotta go with the Dervish or the Trebuchet on this one. They're both good medium-range mechs with a helpful long-range supplement when you need them for support.

Due to the fact that the Trebuchet kind of gets blown to pieces really fast though, gotta go with a Dervish. I do like the Trebuchet's 3 medium lasers backing the LRM-15s though. TBT-7M and the DV-6r are my two favorite mediums.

The Wolverine was a winner back in EGA MPBT on GEnie, loved it ever since.

The Assassin was the first medium mech I purchased in the game Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries so I chose that for nostalgia sake. Was a very awesome game so the experience was extra special.

Griffin for me gentlemen. I like the speed and heavy hitting energy weapon.

I'm a tonnage hog, Atlas, King Crab (though I know KGC is pre 3025), or the Awesome. For Table top play atleast, I never liked how slow PPC fire was in the Mechwarrior series. The vote was decidedly lacking in upper tonnage choices so I went with the Clan invasion.

My vote went to the Hatchetman, although this was a hard poll as Medium Mechs are my favourites! Went with the Hatchetman due to the unusual look, good versatility and the HATCHET!!!! Nothing beats an axe to the face whether it be from a Viking raider or a huge pile of sci-fi metal :)

Gave some love to the Phoenix Hawk. Very very mobile and with enough firepower to control a battlefield.

I looked over some of those mechs, and I realize that I like some of them more due to thier identity than because of what I'd like to pilot.

The Hatchetman's concept is all kinds of cool. But despite that, it kinds of tries to hard to be many things.
The Vindicator is all kinds of nasty, but with that cockpit, I tend to dislike riding it. Which makes it mostly show up as an enemy. =P
The Enforcer's weapon setup is all sorts of win, but it's a bit plodding. Unfortunately, everytime I've used an Enforcer expecting to have a good machine on tabletop, it got smoked.
The Griffin in paper is quite mighty. Fair speed, hard hitting weapons, quite resilient. The only thing I can blame it of is actually one of its assets: it only has two weapons. That's... kind of boring.

The Phoenix Hawk fits the bill of a very versatile medium mech very well and it's an old favorite. It's fast, maneuverable, decently protected. The caveat is that it never really handled its heat very well when I used it... but, it's the one I vote for. I would normally try not to vote for an unseen and promote some other Battletech-original machine, but I've spent too much time on tabletop being well served by the Phoenix Hawk to not vote for it.

Sorry but I have to go with the last choice just because I am and forever will be a Jade falcon. But I am going to be saving up my C-bills for a Hunchback.
