This was another tough choice for me. It was between the Dervish and the Griffon. Both have jump jets giving them great mobility. While the Griffin has great longrange firepower it lacks close in fighting capability. The dervish packing a pair each of LRM 10's medium lasers and streak SRM 2's can fight at long or short range. If you throw Inferno SRMs into the mix its the Dervish hands down.

I voted blackjack as I used to use it a lot to snip away at enemy targets.. Looks like in this game though it won't be practical.. so hunchback for urban combat.

I chose the Centurion cause it was the first mech I ever piloted in the tabletop game. (my 1st edition Mechwarrior characters first mech)

It rolled off the assembly line in 2890, had four owners before me, and had a problem picking up infrared signatures below heat lvl 14 from old sensor damage that had never been correctly repaired. I had it painted Raven Black with Gunmetal Silver trim and named it "Gothic" it even had a chain wallet motif running down the right leg.

On our units 3rd assignment it's autocannon was destroyed by a lucky PPC shot from a Kurita Warhammer and we didn't have a replacement, so my tech suggested replacing it with one of the PPC's we salvaged from that very foe. With the extra weight savings we also added five extra heat Sinks, another Medium Laser in the Left arm, and an additional ton of armor. Thus "Gothic Thunder" was born.

I never abandoned that mech, even after we raided a old Star League base, and I got my hands on a Star League Era King Crab with Twin Gauss's.

So that's why I love Centurions.

For myself I had a lot of early successes with the Dervish. If I was able to get the variant that had the LRM's Med Laser and small Laser then I was a happy camper. Of course I have a Inner Sphere Hunchback with two rotary AC 5's that would put a lot of mechs to shame.....but no where in this survey was the Nightsky or Wraith. But I have a feeling this is for mechs for the new game.
Go SUNS.

Normally I would say the VF-1V Phoenix Hawk for mobility, firepower, and the fact that the Combine maintained the LAM factories up until the bears made it so we can't have nice things. recently though I introduced a bunch of vid gamers and untrained anime nerds to Btech and had an epic moment where the ******* of the group had to choose between tagging a panther on a level 5 medium building that had jumped full (after he had run) or look for alternatives. With no lag for thinking he had his hunchback put its AC20 into the panther (Forcing a failed piloting check) and his medium lasers after into the structure, collapsing it with the kind of lateral thinking I never saw in these people before. End result was an armless, engine hit panther, a dead building, and one of my proudest moments as a GM.

Phoenix Hawk. If I had to pick single mech from medium category, it would be this.

****, this is a hard one. Mediums are my weight class of choice, and there' just too many good options. I wanna say Griffin, is the best of what we have listed, but the Shadowhawk ain't bad either.

Hunchback, still my favorite Mech. Nothing makes you smile more then hiding behind a building until a heavy comes around the corner and blasting them away.

Clint. Its a versatile mech and is very cheap. Its jump jets let it get around, along with its excellent engine. Medium lasers let it dish out some good damage in the mid range, and its AC/5 lets it pop rounds off at the long range.
