I voted yes, because I really like the role warfare and information gathering aspect. But I do have some reservations based on what I've been reading. I worry that this game will end up more RPG, and less mech sim than I would like.

My hope is the game online goes REALLY well and they start working on single player missions you can download for a price, and if you complete them you get XP on you MWO account..

So basically the MMO world will be paying for development they couldnt afford before.

Ya know since most games are 60$ nowadays. I would gladly pay for single player that was delivered in expansions. 6 parts or 4 parts ect..how ever they would want t split it up. I'm just really bummed about them changing the starting point to 3050. Every mechwarrior game starts at 3050~60... 3015 would have been a welcomed change for me. There are so many IS mech's of the time period and succession wars going on.. ect..

A lot of people really put a lot of thought into BT/MW and they let their imaginations run wild on what era/timeline/setup they want for their gaming experience. It's really nice to have so much feedback and to be able to see the points of views of others.

As for me, I am in the BIG.ROBOT.DO.WANT!!11oneone1one!evelen1 school of thought.

So far, very much so. There has been a lot of engagement from the developers which is always a good sign in game production. I'm sure there will be things down the road where this relationship will help make MWO better and stronger.

From what I've heard so far, yes. Any dev team that is as involved with their community as these guys know they can't screw this up, because we will find them and hurt them.

Do You Like Where MWO Is Going?

As far as I can tell, Hell yes!
First off all, its great to have this information flow and open mindset between devs and community. My hope is, we keep this up until post release and discuss problems, share ideas and talk about our opinions and whatnot, that battle hardened humor up against the flamethrowers. Not everyone has to agree with everything - no, thats not where things should be heading, I do like to hear about what other vets, and noobs alike, have to say.

Once our Mechs hit the dust, guns blazing, we know what we like or rather don't.

I dont understand why "no" is even an option.

Should be
-yes

and

- I start foaming at the mouth every Tuesday night waiting for every scrap of information that we will get on Wed

or

-My wife told me she is turning into an arid wasteland in some ways because I will not shut up about the game.

Too early to vote. Saw the same poll on mektek's forum. There will be several new MechWarrior games out there soon, and MWO is just one of them. Being different from each other is a good thing – more choices for the player.

(Warning: it seems that I wrote a long one, but I like it too much to delete it - just go to the last paragraph :) )

Regarding this one - as an online game only, the community, actually, is a major factor in how good is it going to be. So, it’s a treacherous path the developer chose – to develop a game that would please the existing/former MW – MC players and to seduce newcomers, based on what’s up now in online gaming. At least, that’s my opinion based on the ideas and the details they made public so far. And, when all these people envisioning the gameplay in various ways will finally meet in the field, it’s hard to tell what the result will be. Moreover - times change. People who liked one thing 10 years ago, although excited with all the nostalgia, won’t necessarily like the same thing tomorrow – and PGI already had a taste of that with Duke Nukem. Then – how to decide what to keep unaltered and what to change? And how exactly are the changes implemented?

Examples.

1. In order to diversify the experience, the urban warfare will have a larger role. In my experience, that didn’t work that well in the past. I can’t remember playing a lot MW4 on urban maps. Really – how exciting is to barely be able to move a monster on parallel long grey areas filled with equally grey boring cubes? There is a reason why tanks aren’t the first choice when deciding to capture a city in real life. This idea needs a lot of thinking, and I’m curious how well done are going to be the things here.

2. To make things more interesting and reduce some tendencies to only far snipe or only go close, the role playing is encouraged. There are incentives to specialize. This needs a lot of thinking, too. To encourage this is one thing, but to give some huge incentives will actually cut the fun for many, compelling people to spend large amounts of time (no matter how boring) in order to achieve their goals – that specific module, ability, whatever, because otherwise it’s very hard to remain competitive. Hard to balance things here. What’s the amount of time people are willing (or able) to spend online in this single game?

3. In order to encourage the team play (which is more interesting than each for himself/herself), steps are taken – like enlisting for one specific House or Corp and sticking with that decision. I, for one, deeply hate enlisting in anything. Engage, yes, for one thing, idea, my personal pleasure etc., but sticking with a group of people no matter what? How lame is that? How boring become things after a while? Friends use to play against each other and cooperative play is only one way to play a game, not all of them. People like diversity, choice – even in marriage, when two people promise to stay together forever, they invented something called divorce, you know? :) And even in real wars old foes happen to become friends, too. They don’t really have it, but people like to feel as if they had free will and they may choose differently, even for a one time match. This is another balance that needs to be carefully kept.

And so on. I mean – great ideas, but far too less specifics to actually know how MWO is going to be. To sum up the above points, I recognise here the intro sequence for MechCommander_1 – with that trick the recon mission played in the city before the invasion, to get rid of the MadCat. I loved that game – but it was single player and I don’t exactly see it happening with real people in huge numbers, with different jobs in real life, on various time zones etc. I guess I’ll just hope, wait and see.

Not sure where it is going outside of the cockpit and mech combat graphics, perhaps I have not found the right post/forum thread yet?

Did not vote yet.

I like the overall idea of the game, the implementation of different battlefield roles and such.

What I dislike is the visual redesign of certain mechs.

As far as development goes we still seem to be a ways away from a launch. I am excited by what I see and read but I still have many questions not the least is how will the economy be structured. Will micro transactions play a big roll, how will the developers deal with this or will wallet warriors rule the game and push out many really dedicated to the genre. I would rather see a WOW model of a flat rate per month then just how much is in your wallet each time you play.

Many of the wallet worrier games Dark Orbit, Seafight WOT BSGO are all billed free to play but in my opinion are huge fails where turn over is rampant and new wallets jump in a ruin the play competition is not the rule. So I voted yes but I still want to see more and I could change to a no if the Developers throw us onto the fire and sell out to the Wallet warrior. That would destroy play.

I like where MWO is going, because there are no limitations.

The devs have said more than once, this program will be able to be tweaked at any given time. These changes will happen automatically when you sign on.

This should keep the flow of MWO operation smooth. No hunting for patches, no hunting for CD's and PGI pushes their tweaks as the game demands.

ITs a WIN WIN !

You do realize every game has had redesigns of the mechs depending on the fiedelity of the games engine and the artists behind the game.
