CoffiNail will be there too... IF this is anything like MechCommander I am damn excited. Freraking played that to death and back. I remember upgrading my parents PC from something like 4 gigs or ram to 8 to play the game. They had no 4 stick, so they had to switch out the 4 stick and pop in four 2 gig sticks. I get home and the game does not let me zoom. I only had a 1 mb video card when the game needed 2. Fiddled with my driver settings and presto. Ran like hell, but holy founders it was amazing,

Not to go and geek out on ya.. but I am sure you were probably going from one 32MG stick to 64MG.. etc.. ( yea its been that long )

Machines with 4-8 GB of RAM are only recently the norm (WIthin the last 5 years recently) and came with the advent of 64 Bit Win7 OS.

Mechcommander 2 Minimum specs were pretty light compared to todays machines:

Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/XP
PC with a 266 MHz equivalent or higher processor
64 MB of SDRAM
400 MB of available hard disk space for a typical install, 200 MB of hard disk space for swap file
Quad-speed or higher CD-ROM drive
DirectX 8.0 or later API
SVGA 2D video card with 8 MB of video RAM
16-bit Sound card compatible with DirectX 8.0 or later
Speakers or headphones required for audio
Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
56.6 Kbps or better modem for online play
......................

Seeing these specs reminds me just how long its been since we had a good Mechwarrior game and what a huge leap in hardware has been made in a decade.

Heck I could almost run this thing on a smartphone.. :(

"development of content and community promotion": That's not being the publisher :(.

True, though they have said they are sending a lot of it to the other Singapore studio, but that could just be for the transition of code to apples computing machine cult language...

No, MT is not developing the code for MW:TC and sending it to Personae Studios. Personae Studios is the one developing the game and MT "just" contributes with content and help promoting it. Not trying to be picky, but merit should be attributed where it is due :( and just to clarify it.

As Nano said, the game MT is developing is a different one.

If it's going to be like Mechcommander, I hope it's a bit more like 1 then 2 in most aspects, but keep the pilot skills from 2. The difficulty in 1 was great on all settings (hard was....well, hard but oh sooo sweet,) and just enjoyed how it played over 2...two was easy and didn't require as much strategy or tactics.

Again: http://www.mektekdev.com/?p=101

MekTek has currently two projects. The first one we knew of was MW:Tactical Command. We found out later about MW: Solaris, which we found out from Propwash is going to be used for the Tesla pods by VirtualWorld.

but to be sure there is one way to find out:

Again, the page you reference just reads content and community, and for a reason :(.

No need to raid any office for information, Nano and I should know about that :D. We are not trying to hide anything.

Ah alright. It was just the whole section "MekTek Studios (LEGAL: Studio MekTek, Inc.), is proud to announce their partnership with Singapore-based game developer, Personae Studio, on the development of content and community promotion of the new iOS based MechWarrior: Tactical Command" makes it sound like they are both working on the project not just the single developer. My mistake haha.

A trail would be fun though ;)

Well Mechcommander was called an RTT (real time tactics) game rather than your usual RTS. So I'm guessing it'll be something like Mechcommander. As long as they give me a campaign mode with a story I'll be over the moon, but another game set in BTU which doesn't require anything from apple is a plus for me anyday.

Edit: I'd even go for a full on remake of the first mechcommander game. That would be sweet! [And then make more ofcourse] :(

I'm in agreement with what some others have said, it looks like it could be a remake of mechcommander, or perhaps a more "hex-based" version of it. I don't think the companies involved with the production of this game have an engine capable of creating something more complicated than that, as they mainly create browser based social media games (like on facebook). But don't worry, their twitter said it's NOT a facebook game.

TL:DR My money is on a browser based MC remake or a hex-based variant.

They are using the same engine that was, if I remember correctly, help make Battlestar Galactica Online, which looked AMAZING. Example: note that this is all inside a browser.

Yeah the engine was mentioned to be Unity 3D specifically Cattra. Cartoon Network's Fusion Fall uses it as well. Doesn't look as good but the engine is certainly capable.

Oh and about te Final Fantasy Tactics comment.. Screw that, FFT was just a fantasy version of Front Misdion (also Square). Wouldn't mind that one bit.a hex game that looked good and was basically a digital version of the board game would be cool...though I think a square grid makes more sense in a game but who knows. Real time would be great because Mechcommander 2 killed what could have been a good series. First one was great, second one was just so ugly. 3D graphics weren't ready for the level of detail the first one had in its prerendered graphics. Today though it shouldn't be hard.

If they are smart, they will make a browser based version of megamek with a bit better graphics . . .
Would be bad for the poor guys doing megamek though ._.

Whoa, Unity 3D?
Jagged Alliance Online uses it too.
And Shadowrun Online.

@DOW II Egine:
Have you played DOW II? Play it.
Tell me it does not look and feel kinda Battletech if you walz through levels with 3 Termiator-Armored Spess Mehreens!

What I actually think is more crazy is they've got a deal with Ironclad Games, a name I actually recognize (Devs of Sins of a Solar Empire). I guess Infinite are a bit bigger then I thought they were! They now have at least 3 games in development.

I'm not getting excited yet- every time I hear the word "social" mixed with "game" I have panic attacks ("Click to collect salvage!!" augh)- but hey, I'd be into another mechcommander.
